🛢 Reservoir management is challenging. What happens when reservoirs have similar oil and water viscosity? In the complex world of oil production, managing the reservoir flow of different fluids is crucial. When the viscosity of water and oil are the same, traditional inflow control devices struggle to differentiate between the two, leading to increased water production and reduced oil production & recovery. The AICV® is both density and viscosity sensitive, ensuring precise control of the fluid flow. The technology autonomously adjusts to varying conditions, optimizing oil production while minimizing un-wanted water and gas. There are several different AICVs for different reservoirs, ranging from ultralight oil 0.25 cP to heavy oil of >3000 cP. Corrosion control sensors or humid control sensors/monitoring system is one of the promising cutting edge technologies of corrosion protection and mitigation for asset integrity.
“Within 6 months we confirmed that the corrosion sensor was doing what it should do, the moisture sensor was doing what it should do!” This was the experience Theo Knijff, Senior Asset Integrity Expert, KAI-Con, had during his time working at Dow’s Hydrocarbons Business, when CorrosionRADAR: LR was installed on a critical asset. Theo Knijff is a champion of predictive CUI monitoring solutions and states that it’s crucial that the oil & gas industry develops standards for implementing them across the sector. He highlights the key benefits as: ➡ Speed – detects corrosion and moisture damage, and quickly determines corrosivity rate ➡ Safety – minimises the risk of safety incidents ➡ Cost efficiency - saves money over the lifetime of an asset ➡ Reliability - “You don’t have to do anything else, just follow the guidance of your CUI monitoring system.” To watch the latest episode of Conversations Under Insulation, hosted by Prafull Sharma, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of CorrosionRADAR, click the link in the comments. #conversationsunderinsulation #CUI #remotemonitoring #assetintegrity #predictivemaintenance #oilgas #assetmanagement #petrochemical #dow

UBD Well Control Key Dynamic Well Control Lessons: If choke opening or injection rates are changed: – Annular pressure response will first be due to friction, then to liquid holdup – Since friction and liquid hold up can act oppositely, steady state equilibrium can be different than initial response • DP connection dynamics depend on complex factors such as geometry, Gas:Liquid Ratio, reservoir PI • Surface control actions for maintaining BHP vary if annulus is “friction” or “hydrostatically” dominated • Wells can be “over” and “under” balanced simultaneously

[Free Download] The Inherent Value of Permanent Downhole Gauges Click the link below to download our recent whitepaper co-authored by Richard Baker on the inherent value of permanent real-time downhole gauges. --- Traditionally, analytical models and simulation forecasts are made up of many assumptions and have significant error factors. These uncertainties are due to a lack of reliable data on the specific wells and reservoirs which are being developed. Permanent downhole gauges (PDG’s) provide reservoir and pump performance data which allows users to move away from approximations and assumptions in their models, to calculating based off true real-time downhole parameters. This allows users to mitigate development risk and optimize their return on the development of their asset. Often in the early stages of a fields development, simply by optimizing well spacing, millions of dollars can be saved as a result of the data provided by PDG systems. The modern capabilities of permanent real-time downhole monitoring systems are such that operators now have access to greater spatial resolution, increased accuracy & resolution, and data integrity than ever before. https://lnkd.in/dW7HefBm #GEOPSI #Whitepaper #DownholeGauges #DownholeMonitoring #ProductionOptimization #ReservoirModels #ReservoirEngineering #WellSpacing #FieldDevelopment #OilGas #CaseStudy #DownholeData #ReliabilityJob1

📊 New Dashboard! We just added a dashboard for Class VI #ccs wells by project and by state over time. 💪 Louisiana is the leader with 58 Class VI well applications, followed by California with 52 (50 if the two withdrawn projects are subtracted). 💡 The lower right plot shows that projects tend to apply for more injection wells, which correlates with a trend towards the CCS Hub model. 🔗 The dashboard is connected to our database and is updated in real time. Perfect for those quarterly updates or a quick overview slide.

Dear SPE Well Integrity Technical Section members and others, register yourself for webinar with special topic "Regulatory Well Integrity Requirements for CO2 Injection Wells and Legacy Wells Assessment on Norwegian Continental Shelf"! This webinar will focus on the regulatory and technical framework for CO₂ injection and storage wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Key regulatory measures, such as the CO₂ Safety Regulations (§11), focus on assessing well integrity for both active and legacy wells, addressing potential risks like corrosion, cement degradation, and pressure changes associated with CO₂ storage. Standards like NORSOK D-010 guide the design of well barriers to ensure long-term safety and containment, in the Norwegian continental shelf. The presentation highlights the challenges unique to CO₂ wells compared to traditional petroleum wells, including the handling of supercritical CO₂ and its implications for well materials and monitoring. Case studies from selected fields demonstrate the use of 4D seismic technology to monitor CO₂ migration and ensure containment. Collaboration between industry and regulatory bodies is emphasized as essential for advancing carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology while maintaining high safety standards in Norway. Webinar will be moderated by Ainur Kaken and topic will be presented by Nina Ringøen https://lnkd.in/dP36G5YB
