💥 Continuing with #FoodSciTechWeek: the importance of knowledge exchange 💡 We support the further development of the field of food science and technology. There is a lot of expertise in microbiology, chemistry, physics, engineering and materials science. With joined forces these disciplines can create more innovation, especially in cooperation with food producers Every year, we organise an international conference that is broad in subjects and full in programme. This year, the 38th #EFFoST International Conference will explore the theme ‘Future Food Systems: Innovation through Progress at Scientific Interfaces’. Considering the quintuple innovation helix framework, which involves university-industry-public-environment-government interactions, #EFFoST2024 wants to promote interdisciplinary collaboration within the food sector. The conference strives to contribute to the overarching objective of generating sufficient, safe, nutritious and sustainable food with high consumer acceptance, for all individuals worldwide in line with the ‘one health’ concept as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO). 🔗 https://ow.ly/IcJ650P37yg 

📣 Multus at #ISCCM10 - What went down ⬇️ 🔵 The world's longest-running dedicated scientific conference on cultivated meat wrapped up yesterday. 👥  Throughout the 3-day conference, our team in Maastricht, Cai Linton, Anirvan Guha, Charlie Taylor, Brandon Ma and Sandesh Meyler were busy engaging with attendees about how we are making it faster and cheaper to develop media that scales. 💬 Gogol presented on stage, speaking about how Multus accelerates the development of serum-free growth media by using lab automation and machine learning. ⚡ He detailed how we leverage Bayesian optimisation in bioprocess development to enhance complex systems. 🗣️ His presentation was followed by other experts in the industry, such as Christine Ling Li Trautmann (ETH Zürich) and Michael Saad (Tufts University). 🌀 There was an interesting panel discussion with Mark Post, Christof Seiler and  Joe Taylor about Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in cultured meat research. 💡 Mark Post also chaired an insightful panel where Ellie Walden and Robert E. AgResearch, Te Pū Oranga Whenua (TPOW) and New Zealand Leather and Shoe Research Association (LASRA) are engaging in innovative approaches to the domestic short meat supply chain, applying a holistic lens from farm to fork. The hide, often overlooked, represents a valuable source of bioproducts. As part of LASRA’s MBIE Science and Innovation - funded SSIF Platform – Export Quality Hides, we are actively investigating the potential of hides and skins for high-value applications. Looking ahead, our vision is to create a framework where the entire process for meat and bioproducts can be completed on-farm, delivering direct value to Māori agribusinesses. In a farm-based demonstration, we successfully trialed some of our bioprocessing and quality assessment techniques in a real-world setting, a step towards creating a future framework where the entire process for meat and bioproducts can be completed on-farm. And more recently we had chance to share a bit of what happens beyond the farm gate in our research facilities at LASRA and Joint Food Science Facility at AgResearch.
