Cai Linton from Multus discussed the company's focus on growth media formulations for cultivated meat, and how their CapEx-light approach has enabled them to scale more affordably. Cai emphasized the importance of creative financing and early partnerships in getting started and scaling up in the cultivated meat industry. Cedric Verstraeten from revyve shared insights into how his company, a spin-off from AB InBev, has navigated its scale-up journey with innovative circular economy solutions in food production, particularly with a focus on sustainability and operational efficiency. Jasper Snoek from Fair Capital Impact Fund provided an investor's perspective, highlighting how blended financing models—public, private, and debt—can help companies scale in a capital-intensive environment. He stressed the need for building strong coalitions that transcend political divisions to drive real progress in alternative proteins. The discussion underscored that while the USA benefits from more available capital and faster regulatory processes, Europe’s more established food industry and strong focus on sustainability and consumer trust give it a competitive edge.
