We're thrilled to be along for the ride with Starfish Space's latest funding round, which will support the launch of three full-size satellite servicing and inspection spacecraft in 2026! Their spacecraft is designed for two missions: extending the operational life of expensive satellites in geostationary orbit and disposing of defunct satellites in low Earth orbit - a series of capabilities that have never been available for satellite operators previously. Congrats, team, on this huge milestone!

['Korea's SpaceX' Innospace to go public in July] Korean hybrid space rocket developer secures order backlog of $12.61m INNOSPACE, a South Korean startup specializing in developing hybrid space rockets, said Monday that it will go public on the country’s tech-heavy bourse Kosdaq next month, spearheading the private sector’s space shuttle era. “In order to commercialize space projects such as data services using communications and Earth-observing satellites, space exploration, space travel and asteroid mining, space launch vehicles, which can carry satellites, people and supplies to space, are a must-have,” said Kim Soo-jong, CEO and founder of Innospace, at a press conference in Seoul. “Innospace has the country’s only hybrid rocket technology and proved its unrivaled technological competitiveness by succeeding in the launch of the self-developed Hanbit-TLV in March last year, a first for a domestic private firm.” The Korean space launch vehicle developer succeeded in the test launch that blasted off from the Alcantara Space Center in Brazil on March 19, opening up a new chapter for the country’s space sector. It also marked the world’s first successful launch of a hybrid rocket using an electric pump. Space exploration starting to open up to commercial firms in China, with AZSpace's B300-L commercial spacecraft slated for launch next month 🚀 Founded in March 2019, the company has become well-integrated into the fast-emerging cluster of space activity in Wuxi. In addition to the inaugural launch next month, AZSpace plans to launch 4 spacecraft in 2025 🛰️ While still in early stages, we've begun to see more typically state-dominated areas of the space sector, namely exploration, open up. When will we see a contract awarded to AZSpace for crewed astronaut missions? Only time will tell, but given how quickly they've moved thus far, sooner rather than later is a safe bet. #ChinaSpaceGuy https://lnkd.in/gW6KFVi8

Spanish space company PLD Space has unveiled an ambitious new line of next-generation rockets and Europe's first private crew capsule, LINCE. The firm aims to compete with SpaceX and bring Europe into the new space race alongside the US and China. PLD Space successfully launched the suborbital Miura 1 rocket last year and is developing the orbital Miura 5 for a 2025 maiden flight. The company also announced the larger Miura Next rocket, capable of vertical landings and carrying significant payloads to low Earth orbit by 2030. Variants like Miura Next Heavy and Super Heavy will feature additional boosters, enabling launches of heavier payloads to higher orbits, the Moon, and Mars. The LINCE crew capsule, designed to carry astronauts to the ISS and the Moon, is set for initial tests in 2025 and an uncrewed orbital flight in 2030. While PLD Space still has much to prove, its impressive roadmap signals a strong European contender in the rapidly evolving private space industry.

Great article on India's space program! I am honored to be quoted. For India, "the tech is there and the ability is there... but space is tricky and very competitive, and while private companies have shown that they can create a niche for themselves, we need more proof of concept," said Namrata Goswami. She added that the Indian government must be an "anchor customer" for private industry. Link to the piece: https://lnkd.in/e7JaYb7i
The David and Goliath battle in space: India has a plan to carve out a beachhead in the battle for commercial space, officials say: crunching space data, building small satellites and launching them cheaply into orbit rather than challenging heavyweights such as SpaceX head-on. In short, India is playing it smart- build heavy lift rockets, but don't make that the focal point. Instead, capture the booming small satellite and launch market as best as you can. Become a regional space leader. That's where the $$$ is.
