Museums and trust: Case Two. If people don't regularly visit museums, it doesn't mean they don't see them as essential in their community. Attendance can surge if entry is less expensive, or free. #museums #audience #public https://lnkd.in/gWNScaEM https://lnkd.in/gv3HU_Xc https://lnkd.in/gm-fmWCs

Balancing visitor experience and exhibit protection in museums is crucial. Examples of effective strategies might include using subtle protective barriers, clear signage, and well-trained gallery attendants. These measures create a safe viewing environment without hindering accessibility or engagement. In addition, proper crowd control ensures both visitor safety and the preservation of delicate artworks. 🤨 More than ever museums need to think deeply about their purpose, asking themselves why they exist and who for? The answers to these two questions may very well be different now than 5, 10, 20 years ago. Read my newest Learning Hub post below 👇
Museums often make the mistake of focusing on what they do and what they provide rather than thinking critically about why they do those things and who they are really for. Stephanie Downey, Director of Kera Collective, shares insights into the significance and influence when museums center their audiences to find their purpose. She presents six probing questions for museums to examine their "why" and uncover their "who." Museum spaces have always attracted people with the opportunity to take beautiful photos. Sometimes it's pictures of the exhibits, and sometimes just a nice selfie on a pretty background. During my time working in a museum, I often encountered visitors who wanted to take intimate photos. Usually museum rules don't deny this type of photo. But it can inconvenience other visitors, especially families with children. What do you think? Is it acceptable to take such photos in museums? #security #museumsecurity #museum #museumrule #primavera_911 # #securityguard #safety #Risksanalysis #securitymanagement #crimeprevention #predictiveprofiling #riskmanagement #securityawareness #physicalsecurity

This is worth reading 🔽 Even though I believe is by far much more than just that. The social dimension of the role tends to be made invisible, as if being a mediator were just being an almost passive link between two things. Being a mediator is getting involved with the community, listening to its needs, being a relevant actor in the decision-making process in your institution, ensuring that educational and didactic aspects are included in the exhibitions and participating in their museography, generating research and innovation in their practices, among a thousand other things. Let's not reduce its importance to just being a guide. That paradigm has long been obsolete.
Discover the essential role of cultural mediators in museums! From making art and history more accessible to fostering inclusion, they’re the bridge between the collections and you. Swipe through to learn more about how they enhance your museum experience!!
