In July 2023, I sat my final A- level By August 2023, I signed my first ever full-time contract It was a HUGE jump Whilst all my mates were about to travel the world, I was about to knuckle down and start a new venture, working with the Dragons Den Champions, Marisa Teddie and Levi 🐉 Being 18, I was the youngest in the team by at least 5 years and it’s fair to say looking back, I was pretty naive Apart from platforms like Depop, I’d NEVER worked in sales, and there was A LOT to learn I've now been working at PerfectTed for over a YEAR, and with some crucial sales training from Shani, and some experimental sales techniques, I’m now consistently hitting my all my sales targets 📈 And whilst I’m still 19 with a HUGE amount to learn, I tend to forget the progress I’ve made in a year… 😳 Last week, I generated more Sales Revenue from Monday to Thursday, than I did in the entirety of April AND May It's EASY to forget the progress you’ve made, until you reflect back on how far you've come What was your biggest learning from your first full time jobs? Today I went ziplining for the first time, and it struck me how similar it is to taking chances in our careers. Standing at the edge, heart racing, I realized: you’ll never feel fully ready to jump into something new—whether it’s soaring through the treetops or stepping into a new opportunity. Just like ziplining, career growth often requires us to embrace discomfort. It’s about trusting the harness (your skills and preparation) while knowing that growth happens outside our comfort zone. If we wait for the perfect moment, we might miss out on incredible opportunities. So, let’s dare to leap, even when it feels uncertain. This week marks two years since I left Catena, took the reins at Acroud Media, and stepped fully into a new chapter (I put on some big boy pants). Since then, it’s been a journey of reconnecting with what I love—being hands-on in all aspects of the industry. Instead of chasing endless targets, the focus has shifted to finding sustainable, long-term growth opportunities. This marked a prolonged period of people leaving Catena and assets being sold off. I am not suggesting we caused this but I think it wasn’t understood the skill set and the support my team gave to the business. Reflecting on the past 2 years, it's been both challenging and rewarding. With AM, our growth—especially in the first year—was exactly what I expected from the team. We went from 5 people handling ads to managing a large content and admin team responsible for numerous websites. This meant relearning skills I hadn’t used in years, some would argue I haven’t learnt them. I’ve genuinely enjoyed the challenge of diving back into these dynamics with such a talented, motivated team. Adaptability has been key for us over these years, and I’m proud of how our team has evolved. The team that came over with me has been instrumental, with Gianluca Fino in integrating us, Jessica Clements (West) stepping up as head of sales, Daniel Lunness as COO across the group, and Sarah Lunness building out our content teams. We’ve welcomed new talent, including my long-time friend Liam Benton, who rejoined us as CMO—bringing the old team back together. This year has had its challenges, but we continue to tackle them head-on. I have every confidence in this team. I have to thank Gary Gillies for the opportunities, our love-hate relationship (often at the same time) is what drives me. The industry has had a whirlwind two years. I feel for my former colleagues, yet it reassures me that I made the right decision. My years at CM brought incredible learning and lifelong friendships (thanks to Richard Gale and Phil Mitchelson—those final days were challenging). The team we had back then was exceptional, and I’m grateful to remain close with many of them. Looking back, it was the right time to leave. The challenges CM (and others) are facing should remind affiliates of key things: don’t put all your eggs in one basket, and stay tuned into your team’s insights. These past weeks have reinforced my belief that the iGaming affiliate industry isn’t well-suited for large, slow-moving corporations. In such a fast-evolving space, agility is key. For those impacted by changes at CM, XLM, or BC, I’m confident new opportunities lie ahead.
