Mutual Reawakening’s Post

Whitebark pines are a keystone species in Western U.S. forests and face multiple threats including blister rust, pine beetles, and wildfires driven by climate change. To save these culturally and ecologically significant trees, conservationists are taking proactive steps: 1. Collecting seeds from rust-resistant trees 2. Growing protected saplings 3. Replanting to ensure long-term survival The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes are participating in this effort, highlighting the cultural importance of these pines. Despite the challenges, there's hope that these conservation measures will help preserve whitebark pines and the diverse ecosystems they support for future generations. https://lnkd.in/gzH-b77m Mutual Reawakening is committed to providing positive environmental news like conservation efforts preserving ecosystem integrity on Carson Range, Sierra NA.
