🚨 New Video Alert: Pediatric Clinical Staff Perspectives on Secure Messaging 🚨 I'm excited to share my latest video where I discuss findings from my research on Pediatric Clinical Staff Perspectives on Secure Messaging (SM), a vital communication tool within patient portals. 💻 Secure messaging allows clinical staff and patients to exchange health-related information securely, confidentially, and efficiently. Based on a descriptive quantitative study conducted through an online survey across a large healthcare system, participants reported moderate satisfaction with SM. Key insights include: 🔹 Identified opportunities for improving system efficiency and patient safety 🔹 Enhancing training and workflow to better incorporate SM into daily clinician routines 🔹 The need for future developments focused on increasing usage and standardizing message content to encourage wider adoption and safeguard patient safety 📈 These findings highlight the potential for improved user satisfaction and safer communication in pediatric healthcare settings. 🎥 Watch the full video at https://lnkd.in/gWXVUeu9 to dive deeper into these findings, and feel free to read the complete article afterward: Pediatric Clinical Staff Perspectives on Secure Messaging October/December 2024 available at https://lnkd.in/gN48Kz6J Let’s continue the conversation on how we can make secure messaging an essential part of healthcare communication! #SecureMessaging #PediatricCare #HealthIT #PatientSafety #ClinicalInformatics #HealthcareInnovation #NursingInformatics

Excited to share our most recent publication on Odontogenic Infections: Management in Ambulatory Care Settings for Nurse Practitioners with the Journal for Nurse Practitioners Always happy to work with this great faculty team Leigh M. Gerrin Davis Davis, DNP, MBA, CNE, CRNP Dental insurance and access to care need substantial improvement in the United States, given their current inadequacies that contribute to suboptimal oral and physical health outcomes and escalate national health care expenditures. The disparities in access to dental care exacerbate oral health disparities across socioeconomic lines. With their broad reach and comprehensive approach to health care, nurse practitioners are uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in enhancing oral health outcomes. They can effectively integrate preventive measures and early intervention strategies for conditions such as odontogenic infections, thereby reducing emergency department visits and improving overall patient health. This clinical feature critically examines evidence-based practices for the presentation, diagnosis, and management of odontogenic infections within primary care settings. Disseminating this knowledge aims to empower nurse practitioners to deliver timely and effective care, ultimately fostering more significant equity and accessibility in dental health services nationwide. #dentalcare #primarycare #nursepractitioners #nurses #healthoutcomes

Importance of PREVENTION in oral health for Seniors in Care Facilities. The key lies in equipping caregivers 🦷 (Family Members and healthcare professionals). With the necessary training to support patients in maintaining oral hygiene routines, even in challenging circumstances, preventive dental care can be achieved. For patients who may face challenges in Non-Traditional dental care settings such as Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Senior Care Homes and Home Bound Seniors, regular in-service training is critical and mandated. It is crucial to ensure that the entire care facility is aligned to support dental health initiatives. Focus on empowering healthcare providers like registered Dental Hygienists (RDHAP) and Nurses to champion preventive measures. By emphasizing preventive care, we can reduce the need for extensive and expensive dental procedure. Integrate preventive measures into daily Oral Health Practice for Geriatric Patients.

The Lure of Specialty Medicine Pulls Nurse Practitioners From Primary Care More NPs are migrating from primary care to specialty care like cardiology, gastroenterology, or nephrology. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants are advanced practice clinicians who must complete distinct education, training, and certification steps in addition to graduate degrees. NPs can practice without a doctor's supervision in more than two dozen states, while PAs have similar independence in only a handful of states Suppose I need to see a specialist for a specific health issue. In that case, I prefer to visit with a board-certified physician with specialized clinical training and experience to assess my health condition. I speak from first-hand experience over the last few years where it took an old-fashioned specialist to arrive at the correct diagnosis, where he took the time to listen to my History of Present Illness, used his depth and breadth of knowledge and experience, where others continued to send me for test after test. #NP, #specialitymedicine, #specialitytraining, #advancedtraining https://lnkd.in/eCDwcmjk

Another family doctor closes their practice. This testimony is a sad reality of what family practice has become for the majority. The government needs to do more to make family medicine an appealing and viable career choice. The number of residents choosing family medicine as a career has decreased significantly. Primary care is the gateway to our health care system. The government must do more to rectify this crisis. Providing relief for a portion of overhead expenses, funding support staff ie. nurse practitioners, nursing, reception and other interdisciplinary team members will help create team-based models that will enable primary care clinicians to see more patients, increase access and most importantly remain in their careers.
“I’ve been a family doctor for more than 20 years. Now, I have no choice but to close my practice”
