(A thoughtful tip from the FRSC) 2️⃣ Travel Light Carry only what’s necessary—bring along gadgets you can afford to lose. For your data, rely on cloud platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or iCloud to keep everything secure. 3️⃣ Be Cautious of Movement and Food Enjoy reconnecting with loved ones but remain security-conscious. Limit unnecessary movements and be careful with what you eat. 4️⃣ Maintain a Low Profile This is not the time to flaunt wealth or achievements. Staying humble protects you from unnecessary attention. 5️⃣ Stick to Your Plans Avoid overstaying your welcome. Leave as scheduled to ensure your safety. May your celebrations be merry and secure. 🌟 The Power of Storytelling and Preserving Voices Following various meetings last week, I was reminded of one of the most poignant moments in our work at After Cloud, which was hearing the story of Roberta Roccella-Askew, who shared: “It’s her voice I miss the most. I wish I could hear her again.” She actually wrote a guest blog post for us about her story, which you can read at anytime here - https://lnkd.in/gw4he2g. Roberta very sadly lost her mum to cancer when she was just 12 years old. She had a tape recording of her mum’s voice from an answering machine, but tragically, the tape was lost. 🌃Wangan Midnight with some cloud aftertaste... how do you spend your midnights? Sadly, I am not in the Honda NSX on the Tokyo highway... but... 👁️ I am taking part in the track preparation for you! Just a short time ago the CFP for the upcoming Förderverein AWS Community DACH #AWSCommunityDay in München was closed! I am thankful to everyone who has shown an interest in the application! Just a small spoiler - it looks like we have an amazing Jamon cut for you! 🌊 I like the storm of the fresh air that comes together with the session evaluation process. The whole process appears so contrasty and feelings from it were changing by hitting the button after every round. 🧊 Sometimes it was just a no-mercy ice cube mode when I felt nothing. Sometimes it was a very tough decision between 3 saturated sessions with good content that is just perfect. Sometimes you are balancing between absolutely different things but you know the community needs all of them. Sometimes it was just obvious or not obvious at all and I had to listen to the heart. ⚙️This process is so complex. I have to admit this is hard from an emotional perspective because for me it's important to help people to drive their passion. This is why there is no right for mistakes and no place for emotions and feelings. You have to keep a balance by a hundred parameters starting from the theme itself, and then finishing with some precise details between the sessions to pick exactly the right one. 🪙I always want to see the value and idea behind the session. Tough decisions make me sad, but the passion I saw in certain applications brought the smile on my face. Unbeliable feeling. There are already some sessions I want to see now, but let's keep the patience! 🚨 Don't miss the announcements on our LinkedIn page! A very good friend of mine just celebrated his 60th birthday. I’ve been fortunate to work with him since the early 2000s. We were just getting started with Sininen Meteoriitti when, out of the blue, I received a call from Microsoft. It was Juha Heikkonen on the line, saying, “Hi Aki! We haven’t met, but I’m your new Partner Account Manager. Let’s meet face-to-face. And by the way, what’s your shoe size?” Needless to say, I was quite stunned—both by Microsoft proactively noticing our startup and by this gentleman asking for my shoe size! We met the same week, and Juha came bearing gifts, including Microsoft socks 😊 This marked the beginning of a new era for me in working with Microsoft. Juha took amazing care of us, and Sininen Meteoriitti quickly became the leading Microsoft Modern Work partner in Finland, winning several local and global Microsoft awards. This could not have happened without Juha’s guidance and mentorship. In 2010, I left Sininen Meteoriitti to establish Sulava, one of the first born-in-the-cloud Microsoft partners in the world. Almost exactly nine years ago, I was finally able to get Juha to join Sulava. His new role was to build Sulava’s continuous services from scratch, which Juha did brilliantly. That service area is now the core of Sulava’s offering and the largest business, bringing in steady MRR. It also served as the backbone of our Copilot success, built as a unique monthly subscription service. A few years later, Sulava had grown to the size where we needed our first full-time HR person. We were about to publish the job advertisement when Juha approached me and said, “Aki, could you think of me as our HR director? I know I don’t exactly have the background, but I definitely have the passion, and I think I’d do quite well.” Having Juha take that position was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Since that day, Sulava has more than doubled in headcount to ~150 professionals, opened Sulava Gulf LLC, and joined The Digital Neighborhood. Sulava has achieved Future Workplace certification for five years in a row, and employee satisfaction is among the highest in The Digital Neighborhood. In 2023, Sulava grew 25% year-over-year, and the first half of 2024 saw similar growth. As HR Director and a member of the board of Sulava, Juha has played a fundamental role in Sulava becoming a leader in Copilot-aided modern work. It would take us far over LinkedIn’s character limit to list all of Juha’s achievements here. Sulava is undergoing a massive transformation to become one of the first #AI-native Microsoft partners in the world. Without the foundation and culture Juha has built, that wouldn’t be possible. Juha might be 60 years old, but he truly represents the future of human-centric leadership in the era of #Copilots and AI. I’m so happy to have you in my life as a friend and mentor. I’m looking forward to the amazing things we’ll achieve together in the years to come 😍
