Today, we pause to honor and thank the brave veterans who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and serving our country. Your resilience, sacrifice, and commitment inspire us every day. On this Veterans Day, we are especially mindful of the families and caregivers who support and care for veterans. The journey of service does not end with a return home, and the strength of loved ones remains a vital source of healing and hope. From all of us at mejo, thank you to the veterans, families, and caregivers who remind us of the power of community, compassion, and courage. #veterans #caregivers #usa

𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻: Can Reservist Get VA Disability? 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁𝟰𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀: Yes, but only for certain benefits Many veterans join the Reserves or National Guard after active duty. You can't receive VA compensation and drill pay simultaneously, so you must waive one benefit, reducing the amount by what you receive from the other. Certain veterans, expressly those eligible for Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) and Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), are permitted to receive compensation from both the DoD and the VA. Nonetheless, retirees from the Reserves or National Guard may still obtain monthly VA compensation provided they do not simultaneously receive military retirement pay. Each November, we talk a lot about how we need to improve support for America’s veterans. We lament over high suicide rates and the many barriers preventing veterans from accessing care. Vet Corps is a group that does more than just talk and lament — they act. We know because we served with them, and we experienced how their work saves lives. As two veterans and alumni of Vet Corps, we understand this program’s power. We remember the community we built, marked by joyful events, service projects, and mutual support. But we also remember harder days, like when a student veteran suddenly vanished off the grid, refusing contact with loved ones. Or when a Marine Corps veteran started struggling, but put up walls against anyone trying to help. As veterans, we don’t need an explanation for these behaviors — we already understand. In the military, background aside, you’re part of a unit; you share the same mission, challenges, and rigid schedule. Some of us shared the same traumas and saw the same horrific things. Being launched from a cohesive unit abroad to a college campus back home, where your experience is rare, can feel like whiplash. Read more at: https://lnkd.in/g4Nc_4Tw

Q: Can Reservist Get VA Disability? A: Absolutely, but there are specifics to consider. Veterans who join the Reserves or National Guard after active duty can receive VA compensation, but not at the same time as drill pay. You’ll need to waive one benefit to balance the amount. For those eligible for Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) or Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC), you can receive both DoD and VA compensation.
