Let's prioritize taking action towards #ClimateChange and #biodiversity. While it's important to talk about these issues, actions are what we really need to create a #SustainableFuture. As someone who loves traveling, I've had the privilege of exploring many European countries. However, Sweden still remains uncharted territory for me. This story motivates me even more to visit this beautiful country and witness its wonders firsthand. 🌍✈️ I'm excited to share an example from our Capgemini team in Sweden, winners of the #Tech4PositiveFutures challenge. They've demonstrated the efficacy of the Miyawaki method, facilitating the rapid and dense growth of urban forests. 🌳 With this, urban forests can grow 100 times more biodiversity and capture up to 40 times more carbon than standard planting. They also developed an app to track forest progress and biodiversity metrics, providing valuable data to support future endeavors. Today we celebrate World Habitat Day, an important time to reflect on the importance of protecting and safeguarding our hashtag #planet.This year's theme focuses on the need to make our cities increasingly resilient. To do this, it is vital to commit to implementing nature-friendly strategies, comply with European regulations, use technology and actively involve the younger generation. Thanks to our scientific partner 3Bee, we participated in the hashtag #Biodiversity Oasis project, an initiative that allows us to 'listen' to nature. We need to act now!" ...this was one of the urgent calls to action from the World Wildlife Fund at the launch of its latest Living Planet Report today. The title for the 2024 report is "A System in Peril". The scale of biodiversity loss over the last 50 years is alarming and we are reaching dangerous tipping points. The comprehensive report provides insights on: 1. Measuring nature's decline 2. Tipping points 3. Global goals and progress 4. Sustainable solutions 5. Making it happen We need to collaborate and re-imagine how we are do things. 🌱🌎🚦 From today Monday on and during the next coming weeks, I am participating in the 2024 UN Biodiversity Conference of the Parties (COP16 Colombia) in #Cali (South America) and this is probably the most beautiful and emotive tribute to Nature: The National Anthem of the Republic of #Colombia performed by its Biodiversity. Compare this version with the one executed by Humans to notice the mind-blowing level of creativity (https://lnkd.in/e7fFZwpi). Internationally known as one of the megadiverse countries, Colombia is the world's most biodiverse per square kilometer, ranking second for species richness by hosting around the 10% of the planet’s flora and fauna. Nearly all possible natural landscapes on Earth can be found in Colombia: Andean glaciers/volcanoes/mountains, deserts, Orinoco plains, Amazon/Choco rainforest, Atlantic-Caribbean/Pacific coastlines/islands, among others (https://lnkd.in/eQYuPNMm).
