$217,000 in internship scholarships were awarded by CLA’s Office of Undergraduate Education in the 2023-24 school year. This financial support immensely increases students’ access to internships. Internship completion is closely linked to positive post-graduation outcomes. Yet, financial barriers are among the top challenges for CLA students. Prioritizing unpaid internships, these scholarships help more students gain valuable experience without financial strain. Support our mission to remove these barriers to opportunity—every contribution helps create success for CLA students. #UMNGive at z.umn.edu/clagtmd

Striking the right balance between holistic education and skill development is crucial, especially as universities increasingly partner with industries to make students job-ready. At LabourNet Services India Pvt. Ltd., we’ve experienced this first-hand with our Capstone Projects, initially started with Liberal Arts Dept. Christ University BGR, Bangalore, and now extended to MCES MAHE and RV University. These projects aim to bridge the gap between academia and industry by focusing on real-world problem-solving. By offering students a platform where they can apply their academic knowledge to practical industry problems, we ensure they develop the skills they need to succeed in the workplace. What’s particularly beneficial about our Capstone model is the duration—typically 6 months to a year. This longer timeframe allows students to gradually adapt to the industry environment, gaining deeper insights while tackling real challenges.

Rohan shares the key success factors from an intern’s perspective. From close mentoring to widespread exposure across a business and being able to take specific knowledge and skills back into higher education, Rohan has gained this and so much more from his time at MiTek. Considering less that 10 percent of students are offered placement at managerial levels, though they have undergone four years of rigorous practical learning and even more laborious internships, academicians need to seriously rethink the components of hospitality education. Is a four-year course really required to get the kind of placements the students are able to procure after a four-year ‘professional’ course, that too with an AICTE affiliation? One would muse in the four years, advanced learning in rocket science could be imbibed instead! #4yrsBHM,#3yrsBHM,#CraftcourseBHM #thinkagain

🌟 We're thrilled to share an inspiring success story from one of our newest academic partners, The University of West Alabama (UWA). 🎓 UWA recently piloted the Riipen platform, enabling their sport management students to engage in real-world projects and gain invaluable experience. Two graduate students in their program recently worked on impactful projects through Riipen, enhancing their resumes and forging strong professional connections. 💡 In this article, Dr. LaJuan Hutchinson, Associate Professor of Sport Management, who spearheaded this initiative, highlights how Riipen's marketplace provided experiences and industry connections that would have otherwise been out of reach. These opportunities are helping UWA students and faculty expand their horizons and achieve their career goals. 🚀 We’re proud to support UWA’s mission to provide practical, accessible internship opportunities for its students. The success of this pilot exemplifies our vision of helping create a future where all learners have equal opportunity to gain employable skills and unlock their full potential. 👉 Learn more about UWA’s experience with Riipen and how it’s shaping their approach to internships: https://hubs.li/Q02JSjMQ0 #ExperientialLearning #WorkBasedLearning #HigherEducation #HigherEd #Internships #CareerReadiness
