Many blame the quality of Malaysian education.. but it is in fact the problem lies in the quality of the employment market in Malaysia.. Otherwise how can tens of thousands of Malaysians with local education qualifications work overseas.. some even in high paying and high profile jobs?... Some overseas-educated Malaysians fail to get matching employments in Malaysia?

I’m delighted to share that I was chosen to present in the 𝟲𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 & 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮, organized by the South East Asian Human Rights Studies Network (SEAHRN) at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang, Malaysia, from August 13-14, 2024. My Supervised Legal Research (SLR) and Thesis entitled, "𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀" was accepted as part of the presenters during this conference. However, the costs of my participation is quite huge, such as registration fee, flight tickets, and accommodation. I’m humbly requesting any financial support to help me defray my participation in this conference. Please DM me and I will share my bank details or GCash or any mode available. This is my first time presenting a paper in an academic conference, more so on a topic I am passionate about and an international platform. Thank you and I look forward to your kind support!🙏 #conference #humanrights #southeastasia #ASEAN #law #peace #conflict #justice #research #courts #thesis #internationallaw

If I wanted evidence of the declining education standards in Malaysia, I did not have to look far. An intern who reported for work today wanted me to sign certain documents and a letter to her institute of higher learning. A cursory glance of the documents showed that the institute of higher learning could not even write the name of my firm and the address of my firm correctly and misspelt my name as Managing Partner of Zubir Chang & Co. PLT. The letter which she prepared for me to sign repeated the same errors committed by the institute of higher learning. Which means that students no longer bother about checking facts and details when preparing documentation. If certain details are prepared by another party, it must therefore be correct. What are the institutes of higher learning teaching Malaysians? No wonder the PISA scores in Malaysia are falling off a cliff.

[International Management Program Student] "Opportunities and Challenges for the Future" I am Inez Shilvy, I have high hopes and ideals. After passing SNMPTN (invitation) and becoming a student at Syiah Kuala University with a government scholarship, I am determined to be serious and take advantage of this opportunity to improve myself. The first semester went well, but in the second semester I dared to join the international class even though my English skills were very mediocre. Through several selection processes I succeeded in becoming an international class student. A very meaningful step forward for me. The pressure in the international class such as assignments, projects and presentations using English pushed me to improve my English skills. With this pressure too, I was challenged to be better in a competitive class environment. The ability to communicate in English, adapt to various situations and conditions, think critically, collaborate in a team, and self-discipline are valuable things for my future and career. This brave step of mine is valuable to me. This also taught me to always bravely take any opportunity to improve myself. #InternatinalClass#EnglishSkills#Opportunity

What are your thoughts about the commentary on the true state of education in the Philippines? Question: "Do academic grades still reflect true competency in today's education system?" Speaking from the perspective of someone who is a fresh graduate in mass communications, at least in our field, I must say that my folks deserved their distinction. May it be cum, magna, or summa, I just know that my folks deserved it because it is very evident, especially in our field, how student competencies in maskom progressed over the years. If you are to compare the quality of projects that are being produced by the creatives of today's generation, you can visibly identify major innovations. I have worked with a lot of creatives in our field who have minds of god when it comes to being creative; they all ate! So at least in our field, to answer the question, I think that the grades still reflect their competency. (Possibly on a case-by-case basis, but for most, I would say deserved!)

Had the pleasure of delivering an invited talk on "Education Industry in Malaysia: Challenges and Opportunities" at HRD Corp Focus Group Discussion today. I highlighted key challenges, including student engagement, evolving industry needs, inclusive education, and finance, along with the opportunities they present. My recommendations? Adopt a student-centered approach, build partnerships, and invest in continuous professional development. Let’s connect if you are interested in this topic and/or want to explore training solutions to address these challenges. 😊

When 2 is better than 1, they say. Malaysia might be the only country in the world to have 2 ministries to handle education - where one group thinks they are better to handle the smaller human, and the other group thinks they are better to handle the matured one. Ironically, both of them are adults. They are also not talking to each other, and the education budget is ballooning every single year. Was the increased budget's justification because it is not enough for the younger generation, or was it not enough for the vendors/contractors for the so-called younger generations? If exams was abolished to reduce the pressure on students, might as well we abolish the driving license requirement to reduce the pressure and stress on motorists as well and all can do wheelie along the highway. Every Malaysian knows the subjects in primary schools are equivalent to the level of putting a man on the moon, which 100% of the policy makers are not byproduct of their own policies/teachings. Even MOE themselves are not communicating in standard Bahasa Melayu as per in text books or handling documents in Jawi among themselves. Because why? Because 20-30 years ago, everyone in my generation and the generation before me took master degrees and PhDs just for the sake of position and higher-salaries. That's only it, not because of knowledge - it's like acquiring some tokens in game Diablo just to be able to beat the boss - you just want to win the game, not the journey. Of course from that reason too, the high-income nation's race spillover is to show to other people that you're doing something, whatever that is, to justify your position (and going higher). Unfortunately, MOHE and MOE are just to show offs that you're doing something, by experimenting something on Malaysian kids. Will future employers employ such kids of stressed-ful from learning so many subjects unnecessarily at young age and directionless along the way? Seems the policymakers are directionless, obviously. #malaysia #education #examination #edukesyen #moe #mohe #jem
