National Association of Colleges and Employers reposted this
As 2024 draws to a close, reflecting on the challenges and triumphs, it's clear that it has been a remarkable year for NACE. Working alongside an exceptional team of talented individuals has truly made the magic happen. Among our achievements this year: - Surpassed 17,500 members! A milestone in our nearly 70-year history. - Took the lead in national discussions on career readiness & early talent acquisition; featured in prestigious media outlets like the Washington Post, New York Times, and Wall Street Journal with over 500 unduplicated citations. - Formed groundbreaking partnerships with Career Launch and Suitable.co to introduce the innovative NACE Competency Assessment Tool. - Embraced the AI Revolution through a ton of content & our successful AI Bootcamp series with Jeremy Schifeling, which garnered such positive feedback in the Fall that we are gearing up for an updated session this Spring. I extend my heartfelt gratitude, on behalf of the NACE team, to all our members and supporters - you inspire us everyday and we are proud to stand alongside you. Stay tuned for our exciting plans in 2025! Wishing everyone happy holidays! National Association of Colleges and Employers

Advocate for Human Centered Tech, not AI shaped humans
3wFor all the good work that comes out of NACE, and there is a lot, I'm not sure an uncritical embracing of the "AI Revolution" is something to celebrate. GenAI is fraught with a wide range of documented ethical problems including labor abuses, climate and power grid challenges, and the largest intellectual property theft in human history. Not levying serious and sustained critiques fails to model for our students at least two of the career readiness competencies, and will undermine our commitment to DEIB at a time when many organizations are outright abandoning them. We need to be seeing much more from experts like Ifeoma Ajunwa, J.D., LLM, Ph.D., Timnit Gebru, Shannon Vallor, and Brian Merchant, not more go along to get along content. We need to be building responses and know how to introduce operational changes in our offices and institutions to address the coming dismantling of what few regulatory frameworks were in place, because responsibility for the harms of these systems will fall to us as users, not on unregulated makers.
