ExxonMobil Signs the Largest Offshore Carbon Storage Deal in U.S. History. One of the wealthiest companies on the planet just made another massive play in carbon capture and storage. It secured 271,000 acres of Texas state waters for offshore CCS—its 6th CCS project. Exxon’s strategy is clear: dominate the CCS value chain. After acquiring Denbury in 2023, they now own the largest CO2 pipelines in the U.S. Their LaBarge facility already captures 6–7 million tons of CO2 annually. Exxon's goal is to cut more than 100 million metric tons of emissions annually. Looks like the big players are finally recognizing the business potential in CCS… #CCS #energytech #energytransition #climatetech

During #CERAWeek ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods talked about Chevron - Hess $53 Billons deal and the possible Exxon's preemption rights over Hess assets in Guyana. Besides that, he said that IRA government stimulus is a good step toward #energytransition and #CCS #CCUS industry development. CCS is a new industry with a bright future according with him. Exxon has signed a contract with three companies (An industrial gas supplier, a fertilizers company and a steel plant) that will allows them to capture CO2 emissions equivalent to the total reductions associated with the whole fleet of electrical vehicles sold in US (5 mm tons annually). https://lnkd.in/edx2zUcH

ExxonMobil has just announced that they've finalized the execution of the largest offshore CO2 storage lease in the U.S., covering over 271,000 acres in Texas state waters. 🔹 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: 𝗦𝗶𝘇𝗲 & 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹: The site has an estimated sequestration capacity of 275 million metric tons. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀: This is a massive collaborative effort with partners like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Linde, Air Liquide, BASF, Shell and many more. 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲: Operations are expected to start by 2025, pending regulatory approvals. 🔹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀: This gets Exxon closer to their goal to capture up to 100 million tons of emissions annually from the Gulf Coast region by 2040. 𝗣𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗨𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The acreage is strategically located near the Greenline CO2 pipeline acquired by Exxon last year through the acquisition of Denbury Inc. 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲: Exxon also secured offsetting federal acreage despite no federal regulation around carbon storage. One could assume their plan is to combine these positions for a super CO2 storage site. https://lnkd.in/gairNMsS #ExxonMobil #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #Innovation #Texas #EnergyTransition #GulfCoast #SubsurfaceInnovation #CCS #Carbon #Sequestration #OffShore

Collaboration between companies and the government is going to be critical to solve the challenges we face reducing emissions whilst providing affordable and realiable energy. Policy certainty is one key element required. Conversations like these with The Low Carbon Contracts Company and ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions enables the sharing of perspectives to help find the collaborative solutions required to potentially bring investment to the UK.
Working collaboratively to deliver lower carbon solutions was the shared vision when we welcomed the Low Carbon Contracts Company to our ExxonMobil Fawley facility. As a member of The Solent Cluster, ExxonMobil and Fawley have the capabilities and strategic location needed to deliver CCS, hydrogen and lower carbon fuels, at scale, to help reduce emissions across The Solent region and beyond. We are committed to continued engagement with stakeholders as we explore potential opportunities to support the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. #CCS #hydrogen #NetZero Paul Greenwood Nick B. EnLink Midstream and ExxonMobil to Expand Carbon Capture and Sequestration Efforts EnLink Midstream, LLC is exploring opportunities to expand Exxon Mobil Corp.'s carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) efforts beyond southeast Louisiana Mississippi River Corridor into several additional Gulf Coast areas. The companies are also reassessing the Pecan Island Area project's near-term role, potentially prioritizing other joint opportunities. The project involves a plan to build a $200-million carbon dioxide (CO2) dehydration and compression unit at its Donaldsonville facility in Louisiana. EnLink and ExxonMobil aim to provide cost-effective CCS solutions for CO2 emitting companies in areas including Houston Ship Channel, Lake Charles, Port Arthur and Beaumont. After acquiring Denbury Inc., ExxonMobil now owns the largest CO2 pipeline network in the USA. https://lnkd.in/gM9dZipm...

𝐄𝐱𝐱𝐨𝐧𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐎𝟐 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐔.𝐒. 🌊🌍 ExxonMobil is expanding its carbon capture and storage (CCS) business with a new offshore lease and a major CCS deal. On October 10, the company announced it signed the largest offshore CO2 storage lease in the U.S., covering over 271,000 acres from the Texas General Land Office. The site complements ExxonMobil's growing onshore CO2 storage portfolio and is adjacent to a CO2 pipeline acquired through its $4.9 billion purchase of Denbury Resources. The first customer for the site will be CF Industries, which struck a deal to remove up to 500,000 metric tons of CO2 annually from its Mississippi plant. ExxonMobil also recently agreed to store 1.2 million metric tons of CO2 from Momentum Midstream's NG3 pipeline project in Louisiana, marking its first CCS deal with a natural gas processor. Global oil giant ExxonMobil Corp. has secured an offshore carbon dioxide (CO2) storage site in Texas state waters of the Gulf Coast. The 271,000-acre site granted by the Texas General Land Office not only supports the onshore CO2 storage portfolio under development by ExxonMobil but also builds the position of the U.S. Gulf Coast in carbon capture and storage. Several reports cited this as the largest CO2 storage site in Texas. If all facets of the project are enacted, the oil giant may capture and remove as much as 7.5 million metric tons of CO2 from its Baytown oil refinery. The emissions will be buried in geologic rock formations under the seabed, according to reports. Offshore land provides required storage space for CO2 emissions with the Gulf of Mexico’s large potential in meeting net-zero goals. ExxonMobil operates the largest CO2 pipeline network in the U.S. and considers itself well-positioned to leverage its extensive infrastructure and storage space to deliver an end-to-end solution.
