The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) recently announced it’s awarding $3.6 million to 18 education and community organizations across 15 states to combat our nation’s cybersecurity workforce shortage. NICE, a NIST subdivision that promotes cybersecurity education and workforce development, will oversee the grant program, distributing approximately $200,000 to each organization. What are some good places to look for entry- level roles? Any networking advice that you might give to them? Specific cyber games groups or associations? Conventions? Some of these professionals are seasoned veterans who have worked in areas that require a very high level of attention to detail (i.e. parachute rigging), but they have not worked in cyber. They're looking for their shot to show off their skills and education, just need that initial break. How can they start? What would you recommend for them? Family/#community, Today is about allies. The winter comes with more than weather freezes as the job market also slows and often freezes awaiting Q1 love. It sucks being left in the cold, but what if you didn't have to be alone and there was warmth? That is the premise of this mornings Rhapsody. Whole Cyber Human Initiative Inc. 501(c)(3) has their beacon lit always and purveyors of a complementary curriculum, mentorship, and community. Boots to Books not only helps #veterans and #milspouse with advanced degrees, but also creates culture and community bringing quarterly cert raffles and hiring fairs. Not to mention, "The Transition Master Class"!! <--- a must see. The Diana Initiative is a home too many who felt out of place but found out, out of place has place in an industry of chaos. The inclusiveness and warmth you find here is addictive as you will find Industry practitioner leaders hanging around. Boots to Cyber (B2C) goes beyond #DoDSkillBridge too where, even after a vets last day comes on paper.. they don't have yo go if they found their tribe. Also, cohorts what? We have a rotating skillbridge where you choose your start date. After all, not like we all get out on the same days. These are just a few #allies you can find in the #cyber community.
