You're not ready, and it shows. Yes, really. We are not prepared for the reality that is we have never been less safe to hacking, breaching, and theft than we are right now. Let me explain... Piracy, theft, and terrorism is rising online, and your safety and wellbeing is just as important (now) than at any time before. Thieves and scammers know that the easiest way to gold is through your inbox, which is why it's absolutely paramount that you understand that fact. Your inbox is a waiting (very) loosely guarded digital treasure trove of your data. In each of our inboxes there is a 99.99% chance I could find enough data to open credit cards, lines of credit with a bank, and apply for social security benefits and it would be done before you had a chance to realize what's happened. This happens every, single, day. Starting to think of your digital/cyber wellbeing as a muscle to be worked out is the best descriptor I can allude to: it doesn't work unless you make sure it does. Being prepared, and proactive, is the only way to keep the wolves from the door. Waiting until it's already happened is no way to live. We have to stay ahead of disaster if we're going to be able to live safely, and securely. Staying ready beats getting ready every time. 🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨🚨 the US Federal Reserve has allegedly been breached by a ransomware group leveraging LockBit 3.0 (FederalReserve.gov). The group claims to have exfiltrated 33 terabytes of sensitive banking information, including details of American banking activities. Although this, and many other cyber crime gangs have been linked to (or have members in) Russia, there is no telling whether or not they are state-sponsored. Looking at the post, I’d bet they are not, but undoubtedly have numerous standing offers, with a breach of this magnitude. On the post, the group notes “You better hire another negotiator within 48 hours, and fire this clinical idiot who values Americans’ bank secrecy at $50,000.” This suggests to me that the breach was either the result of a $50,000 bribe, or that the negotiator offered the group $50,000 to bury the data. The Federal Reserve has not confirmed the breach. According to the post, the Federal Reserve has less than 24 hours to pay the ransom or risk publication. If correct, this could be the most substantial breaches of financial data in history. And we should see hints of its legitimacy within the coming weeks. With this amount of data, if the Federal Reserve lacked even basic DLP (Data-Loss Prevention) policies, as to allow 33TB egress network traffic from a single source, my God - what other fundamental policies are they lacking!?

Post Prudential breach impact analysis indicates a massive increase than originally reported, going from 36,000 impact individuals to 2.5 million. The AlphaV/BlackCat ransomware group attack resulted in the compromise of sensitive data, including names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and identification card numbers. Prudential Financial faces a continuing risk due to the extensive amount of their compromised credentials publicly available unless audited. .
