I just listened to the news, and it wasn't surprising to hear that independent candidates in the UK general election are being labeled as "pro-Palestinian." This labeling seems intentional, aimed at creating division, even though the newly elected members have only just started their terms. It's important to recognise that for many, the vote wasn't solely about Palestine. It was also about showing that the Muslim community will not automatically support Labour, as has often been the case in the past. This vote signals that both incoming and outgoing parties must represent the community's needs and not support actions complicit in genocide. It also emphasises the importance of bridging divisions and uniting communities. We shouldn't only focus on the negatives, which represent a small minority. We should also highlight the positive contributions of Muslims, such as their involvement in charitable causes, donating billions to various global initiatives every year, and their significant contributions to fields like math and science. Additionally, the majority of Muslims actively contribute to the UK economy just to name a few. #workingtogether #equalitydiversityandinclusion

A reminder that feminism discourse needs to be intersectional and should move away from the white women only gaze. While we have seen a number of well known western feminists speak up about alleged rapes by Hamas on Oct 7, we have not seen them speak up about the UN documented sexual violence by IDF towards Palestinian women and girls (let alone genocide and land grab!). If we are speaking up on violence against women, it has to be all women. As a Muslim who is partly Asian, I am really disappointed (though not surprised) at the overwhelming silence of my white sisters. This session tomorrow/today (Thursday, 29 Feb) is a discussion on confronting how gender-based violence (GBV) is weaponized by Israel to justify violence against Palestinians. They will also analyze the deeply entrenched issues within white "feminist" discourse and frameworks that perpetuate the problematic framing of GBV against Black, Brown, and Indigenous women/girls. The panelists will courageously expose the detrimental consequences of such narratives, igniting a call to action for justice and accountability.
Join Global Development for Palestine for an honest discussion about the western discourse that perpetuates the problematic framing of GBV against Pales.inian women, girls, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. This panel is 🔥🔥🔥 centering the voices of Pales.tinian and Arab women, exposing the detrimental consequences of such narratives, igniting a call to action for justice and accountability. I didn’t update the guide for a few days because I hit the 500 page limit and had to edit it down for the second time. 500 pages. 300+ days of Genocide. Please don’t stop talking about Palestine. A few reminders before the updates: - The Eid al-Adha fundraiser for 15 families of friends in our LI community ends *tomorrow* and hasn’t reached their goal. (Pg.14) - There is an update from last week that I can’t stop thinking about: The Samson Option. You can watch the video on page 21. - Please remember to visit the Funds for Palestine guide (Pg.5) for hundreds of verified campaigns and grassroots organizations to donate to. Updates to the Palestine resource guide for August 9th include: - *Urgent* appeal for Truely eSIMs - 152 Schools in Gaza have been bombed - An update on what’s happening around the world - March on the DNC: Chicago Aug 19th - 22nd - Resistance 101 Crash course I rarely post the guide here anymore as it was heavily suppressed. It's still updated regularly when new information is available - any past link works. I continue to share it on my @abolishpoverty IG. To support my continued volunteer work on this resource, please use the “Buy Me a Coffee” link to send a contribution of care. *Links are in the comments Click MOST RECENT if you can’t see it and interact for visibility. We will not stop. We will not rest. #CollectiveLiberation ALT TEXT: The cover of the Palestine resource guide. The subtitle says Gaza urgently needs Truely eSIMs. The image shows a collage of four pictures with Bisan and friends. There is a link at the bottom to her Telegram.

Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere. Lets keep raising awareness about all injustice around the world. Lets keep holding our western governments accountable for their support to Israel, who commits war crimes in Gaza. .... Lets keep talking about Sudan, Yemen, North of Mozambique, DRC and all other conflict zones where women are disproportionately affected by all the violence. Lets keep rooting for the resilience of these very same women and lets keep praying better times will come for them and their families. Lets to do this today, in honor of International Women's Day, but really, lets do this everyday. One action per day. One petition signed. One post shared. One donation made.

As you may know, I’m on the board of the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) and this #Ramadan, the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU) needs your support producing #research and reaching policymakers across the U.S. For example, based on our research, in December the Princeton Council adopted a resolution officially condemning #Islamophobia. ISPU research on institutional Islamophobia directly impacted the structure of the resolution, helping inform the Council on the widespread ways Islamophobia affects the lives of American Muslims. During a time of heightened Islamophobia and anti-Muslim sentiment–like we’ve witnessed in the past few months–it’s even more important for this crucial work to continue, as global events impact Muslims across America and our communities bare the weight of grief. Reaching and equipping #policymakers and other changemakers, directly or through our partners, are a core part of our mission at ISPU. We know that when the right research is in the right hands, policymakers–like the members of the Princeton Council–can make informed decisions that directly impact the lives of the general public. And now is more important than ever for those decisions to be made. DONATE TODAY: https://lnkd.in/eskWhGVw

The Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) is supposed to be AUSTRALIA's union and professional association for individuals in the media, entertainment, sports, and arts industries. Now they are a mouthpiece for Hamas. It's well known that Palestinian "journalists" often moonlight as militants. Is anyone checking where the donations that MEAA is collecting are going? Again, we all know that donations to UNRWA and other supposedly virtuous causes were going to Hamas' coffers. Like many unions, the MEAA has shifted its focus to foreign conflicts unrelated to its core mission, choosing causes that evoke emotion and encourage financial contributions. This stance serves as an easy virtue signal, earning them approval within the media and arts echo chamber. This is not a courageous position—they have no real stakes involved. It’s an easy grift. Meanwhile, what are they actually doing for Australians? All I can see is them fuelling a culture war here and fanning the flames of anti-semitism.

In recent years, Muslim individuals, businesses, and nonprofits in the U.S. have reported facing potentially discriminatory practices at some of the nation’s largest banks and financial institutions, as found in ISPU’s 2022 American Muslim Poll. Even further, in the aftermath of a wave of student protests against the war on Gaza, Muslim charitable, non-governmental and nonprofit organizations and institutions are facing increased scrutiny by policymakers. This has emerged in the form of media attention, statements by policymakers, and proposed legislation, such as H.R. 6408, which would give the executive branch sweeping powers to dismantle organizations the administration says has provided “material support” to terrorist organizations. On Thursday, May 23 at 2 p.m. EST, join ISPU and a distinguished panel of experts to discuss the impact of this legislation on Muslim organizations in the U.S. as well as the role of non-state actors, think tanks, and their funders in leading information manipulation campaigns against Muslim humanitarian organizations. ISPU Director of Research Saher Selod, PhD, will join Gerald FitzGerald, PhD, Affiliated Faculty, George Mason University, Robert McCaw, Government Affairs Department Director, CAIR National, and Kia Hamadanchy, Senior Policy Counsel, ACLU, for a virtual panel discussion. 📆 Register today to save your seat: https://hubs.li/Q02xqngn0
