AI in Chinese school in Shanghai. Some schools in Shanghai may offer students projects for intellectual development and brain training, including the use of headbands (also known as smart headbands or brainwave headbands) to assist students in brain training. These headbands typically can monitor brainwaves and utilize brain-computer interface technology to translate brain activity into visual or auditory feedback, aiding students in improving attention, focus, and cognitive abilities. Such projects may integrate advanced neuroscience research and educational theory to design targeted training content and methods to promote students' intellectual development and learning effectiveness. However, it is important to note that whether these projects are effective and their long-term effects on students require in-depth scientific research and evaluation. In practice, schools and parents should carefully evaluate the quality and effectiveness of these projects to ensure that they meet the actual needs and developmental stages of students and do not have negative effects on their health and psychology. Additionally, maintaining open communication and transparent information disclosure is essential, allowing parents and students to fully understand the content, purpose, and effects of the projects to make informed decisions. The world changed to be an AI world. have a nice Wednesday. #decisionmakeing #braintraining#sales#marketing

Is this too far? Are my suspicions of this being overly invasive founded on logic or skeptical ignorance? When I see children in school with devices listening to their brains, I immediately picture my own kids. The data these devices generate—per student, per school—could be worth trillions as they mature into members of society. But who controls this data? Who will protect you or your child if it’s misused? Then again, is this concern genuine or just fear of the unknown? When electricity was first introduced to public schools, it was terrifying to those unfamiliar with it. Now, it’s rare to find a school without it. There’s a global shortage of teachers relative to the number of students. This technology could be a force multiplier for the incredible educators shaping our children’s futures today. AI can augment humans, not replace them. Data is just data, but add the heart of an educator trained to use these new tools, and our children could grow to be more educated than we are. However, I need to see much more than a video to consider this for experimental practice. We must ensure the overall education and wellbeing of students are met or exceeded. I also require accountability and stringent safeguards for data handling.

This article questions the focus on cheating in assessment discussions. It argues that a broader focus on assessment validity is more important. The article suggests that addressing cheating through overly restrictive measures can sometimes harm validity, especially for marginalized students. By prioritizing validity, we can ensure that assessments accurately measure student learning outcomes.
High time we shift the focus from cheating (students are the problem) to academic assessment validity (Higher Education learning design is the problem). Insightful paper from Deakin University with Dr Phillip Dawson and team. #learningdesign #educationaldesign #HigherEducatiin #AI #assessment #research #EAI
Validity matters more than cheating

Human connection is the heartbeat of education ♥️ While educators across the world wonder, debate and prioritise what the focus should be for the future of our young minds, I beg us to return to the essence of humanity. The essence of teaching and of learning. While waves of AI ripple through education, let us not ignore the greatest need. Our world is in a state of extremes. Humanity torn yet love embracing. As educators, let our priority be connection. Human connection must always be the heartbeat of all we do. Education especially. #education #connection

It's been a great conference so far, and now we're heading to day 3 of the Neurodiversity in Education CIC conference. Yesterday I had the pleasure of being a guest speaker on the panel for the 'Experiences of neurodivergent teachers' discussion, hosted by my fellow co-director Dr Annemarie O'Dwyer. So much was shared and learned listening to the great panellist; Amy Spatz, PhD, Jorja Bullock, Annie Campbell, Pete Wharmby, Ruthanne Radlett. Join me today at 5pm online as I host a webinar by Frances Akinde on Artificial intelligence in Education. This is a topic that is so important in today's digital world and knowing how to effectively use AI to support ourselves and others can change how we think and work and the successes we can achieve. You can watch us live via the link on the website https://lnkd.in/eCgRsYbP or via Youtube by searching Neurodiversity in Education. See you at 5pm.... #StrengthinDiversity, #PowerinUnity. #Togetherwecanachievemore #AI #neurodiversity

Breaking News - 13NOV2024, Artificial Intelligence in Education; Kean University Educating Young Children in an AI-Driven World. quote "Kean University Professor and Chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education Jennifer Chen, Ed.D., conducts research on AI in early childhood education, especially its impact on children's learning and development. Chen, who was recently named among the most-cited researchers in the world in the 2023 Stanford/Elsevier ranking, spoke with Kean News about AI, its growing presence, and its impact on the education of children up to age 8. " end-quote. Q. What do you foresee for AI in the future of early childhood education? There is no doubt that AI is here to stay. Either we embrace it, or we’ll be left behind. If we choose the latter, to be left behind, by extension we leave the children behind. We need to figure out how to leverage AI tools effectively and ethically; understand their limitations, benefits and pitfalls; and amplify their positive effects on children’s learning and development. We can imagine a future where the educational landscape is transformed to create spaces that foster innovative approaches, using developmentally appropriate teaching practices within an AI-infused environment, where children can naturally learn from and with AI in ethical and responsible manners. #machinelearning, #ai, #deeplearning, #education, #edtech, #k12, #generativeai, #techers, #teaching, #college, #university, #venturecapital, #departmentofeducation, #newjersey, #kean, #keanuniversity, #rutgers, #rutgersuniversity, #nyu, #columbiauniversity, #privateequity, #investments, #regulations, #washingtondc https://lnkd.in/e_4pcQTX
