Let’s talk about OWNERSHIP! Two weeks ago, we had our #NalaTeamWeek. In a remote setup like ours, these in-person weeks are full of energy and momentum. Between team lunches and after-work sports, we use this time carefully for #360-degree feedback sessions and #culture building. This time, we explored one of our 5 Nala values: OWNERSHIP. Here’s a reminder of our 5 Nala values: WE MOVE WE TAKE OWNERSHIP WE CARE for our people & the planet WE STAY CURIOUS WE ARE BOLD So, what does ownership mean to us? 🤔 It's a simple word, but with many interpretations. To kick things off, we had a #brainstorming session where everyone shared their personal take on ownership. Check out the 2nd picture for a snapshot of our ideas. The goal? To create a shared understanding of what this value means in our daily work and interactions. We highlighted three key concepts (links in comments for more details): 🔺 The Drama Triangle: A model that helps identify unproductive behaviors like blaming or playing the victim. True ownership is about stepping out of this triangle - taking responsibility for our actions and outcomes. ✋ The Buck Stops with Me: This phrase means that you don’t pass the responsibility to someone else. When challenges arise, it’s about standing up, taking charge, and being accountable for the results - whether they’re successes or failures. ⚖ Radical Candor: Ownership thrives on open communication. Radical candor is about delivering honest feedback while showing genuine care. It’s the balance between holding others accountable and helping them grow. In our following feedback session, we discussed how we embody this value: What are we doing well? Where can we improve? What does #OWNERSHIP mean to YOU? 💬 #Ownership #TeamCulture #Accountability #NalaValues

It’s almost the end of February. Like many, I’m wondering how that happened. The weeks are racing by, full, busy. So much is happening, yet I wonder what is actually taking root and growing. This month I’ve been writing more about teamwork – what works, what doesn’t – interspersed with forays into wider topics – the world we find ourselves in, the big risks we face, complexity, other forms of prosperity, what a good life can look like. About the importance of context, how it shapes us, and we it as we move through it. That good teamwork, especially at scale, is not just about we are one and unity consciousness. But about healthy collaboration and competition, that allow the whole ecosystem to flourish, not the parts that have the loudest voices or strongest allies or the coolest new stuff. That love at work can be a real thing and powerful when we do it right. The importance of time out for teams to wind down and tune into who they want to become and what that might look like in practice. Then practice. Leadership, teamwork, regeneration as areas of practice. Things that we learn through doing and can become masters of by doing more of it. Which are available to anyone and everyone, whatever our role or status. Leadership and decision-making in a complex world need to be distributed across an ecosystem, not held in the hands of a small few at the top of vertical departments or even matrices. We may be part of a team as a formal structure but spend most of our days working with other people in other teams. So perhaps teamwork takes place far more in the spaces between teams with multiple reporting lines. It strikes me that all the ways in which we organise and interact are in real need of regeneration to deal with the real world around us today. Or we can stick our heads in the sand and pretend that life as we knew it will continue if we continue to do what we’ve always done. Or even worse, we think we’re doing good purposeful work but we’re still thinking and responding in straight lines. If we do x + y + z we’ll sooner or later grow, make more profit, get more return on our investment. Thanks for reading. #regeneration #teamwork #practice #collectiveintelligence #learningthroughdoing

Ever noticed how a little appreciation goes a long way? In team management, positive reinforcement is a game-changer. Chashmi Soni and I have seen firsthand how positive reinforcement transformed our teams dynamic. Mistakes? They’re just part of the journey. Instead of dwelling on them, we believe in giving our team the chance to learn and grow from them. It’s all about trust and fostering growth. We also make it a point to acknowledge the small victories. A simple "good job" or a nod of recognition can significantly boost morale and create a supportive environment. Recognizing even the smallest efforts can completely change a team's dynamic. In the end, it's these positive touches that build a strong, motivated, and cohesive team. 🌟 #positivereinforcement #appreciation #supportiveenvironment #appreciateandmotivate #teambuilding

Peer-to-peer feedback is one of the most effective ways to foster growth and development within a team. By openly discussing areas for improvement and sharing best practices, colleagues can learn from each other in real-time. This collaborative approach not only strengthens individual skills but also drives overall team efficiency. Whether it's improving time management, honing organization, or mastering tools like Excel, peer feedback can highlight key areas of growth. But to truly maximize these insights, it's crucial to have a robust content library at your fingertips. With the right resources, team members can quickly access the training materials they need to turn feedback into actionable skills.

Mistakes are simply stepping stones on the path to growth! Recently, our team overlooked the importance of incorporating regular feedback loops in our projects. 🚫 It became evident when we noticed misalignment in our goals and team efforts. Recognizing the issue was the first step – we quickly held a team meeting to discuss our observations and brainstorm solutions together. This open dialogue reinforced our commitment to fostering a culture that encourages continuous improvement. Implementing regular check-ins not only corrected our course but also enhanced teamwork and communication moving forward! 💡 Here are a few tips that may help you prevent similar oversight in your own work: 1. Schedule periodic reviews - Make it a habit to assess progress and gather feedback. 2. Encourage open communication - Create a safe space where team members feel valued and heard. 3. Set clear objectives - Ensure everyone is on the same page regarding goals and expectations. Every mistake offers valuable lessons and opportunities for growth. Let's embrace them as we journey towards better practices! 🌱✨ #LearningFromMistakes #TeamGrowth #FeedbackCulture #ActOfLiving #EmbraceChange
