Thanks to Davangere DUDC and TIDE for organising a training on 27th June 2024 for the ULB officials to tackle Solid Waste Management challenges in their respective municipalities. We got an opportunity to share experiences on how to get the households to segregate their waste and presented innovations & case studies on successful implementation of source segregation at various locations. The session also featured insightful contributions from Mr. Chithambarachary from ZIGMA on clearing legacy waste, including planning, implementation and monitoring of legacy waste remediation. From Namathi, we extend best wishes to the six Davanagere ULBs—Honnali, Nyamathi, Channagiri, Harihara, Malebennur, and Jagalur—as they work towards improving source segregation and initiating legacy waste remediation. We appreciate the efforts put by TIDE who have come forward to provide technical support for small towns in the water and sanitation sector with support from BORDA under the Integrated Water Management project. "This is my first session on Holistic Solid Waste Management since becoming an entrepreneur. Achieving better resource recovery has been a challenging task for every Urban Local Body (ULB), but with the right support from relevant stakeholders and execution, any ULB can achieve zero waste. We are open to sharing our experiences through live case studies."

Do you know? Shillong is grappling with a mounting waste crisis, heavily reliant on the overflowing Marten landfill in Mawlai, posing significant health risks. Pollution of air and soil is rampant, while during monsoons, overflow threatens nearby water sources, notably Umiam Lake, a crucial drinking water reservoir. Reports indicate the landfill is at full capacity, prompting action. To understand more about the waste management problem in Shillong, Shullai Progressive Secondary School invited Karo Sambhav Foundation to sensitize their students and discuss practical ways to manage waste in their community. Are you interested in learning more about the methods used in waste management in your area? 🌱 Exciting Start to the SULAM Project! 🌱 On March 18th, 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in a dynamic planning session for the SULAM Project, our innovative initiative focused on promoting organic waste separation for community composting in Bandar Riyal. This initial discussion was a crucial step in setting the foundation for our project, and it was filled with energy and enthusiasm. During the session, our team outlined the primary objectives of the SULAM Project, aiming to tackle waste management challenges and promote sustainable practices within the community. We identified potential challenges and brainstormed strategies to overcome them. The session included a productive Q&A segment with our lecturer, which helped us refine our approach and clarify our goals. We also discussed the roles and responsibilities of each team member, ensuring that everyone was aligned and ready to contribute their unique skills to the project. The collaborative spirit was truly inspiring, and it was clear that we all shared a common vision of making a positive impact on our environment. This planning discussion has set a strong foundation for the SULAM Project, and I am excited to see how our efforts will unfold in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates as we work towards a greener and more sustainable future! #SULAMProject #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability #OrganicWasteManagement #Teamwork #EnvironmentalAwareness #ProjectPlanning #MakingADifference #InnovativeSolutions

Every year on June 5, World Environment Day is observed with the purpose of encouraging more ecologically friendly behaviours and raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. The benefit of environmental conservation is becoming increasingly important as microplastics, tainted air, and harmful radiation levels rise. Batam, with the goal of becoming a green city, is competing for investment with other Southeast Asian nations. The first phase of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was completed in Batam, and more stages will be built soon. Reservoirs for floating photovoltaic (FPV) will also be installed in Batam to support green energy. Other supporting businesses in Batam include the production of solar panels and other related industries. Aside from that, the administration is also concerned about education. In order to sustain the green energy ecosystem, businesses that use green energy technologies will eventually need to collab with universities and vocational schools. #indvestime #batam #indonesia

Happy #WorldWaterDay! Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) recently inaugurated a modular treatment plant in Muntinlupa City that will treat raw water from Laguna Lake using state-of-the-art ceramic ultrafiltration (UF) technology, which is a “first” for water treatment in the Philippines. The Laguna Lake Modular Treatment Plant (ModTP) can produce 20 million liters per day (MLD) of potable water supply, augmenting the production of Maynilad’s three existing treatment facilities in Muntinlupa that also use Laguna Lake as a source. This will help improve service reliability for Maynilad customers in the south, as its technologically advanced treatment processes ensure sustained production despite abrupt fluctuations in the lake’s raw water quality, which have been occurring with more frequency owing to climate change effects. “Maynilad continues to adopt innovative solutions to meet the evolving water supply and treatment challenges, ensuring long-term resilience and sustainability. With this new facility, we are setting a milestone in municipal water treatment here in the Philippines, as we explore the potential of scaling similar technologies across other facilities," said Maynilad President and CEO Ramoncito S.
