In the past decade, the UK has seen a decline of 1,700 fishers. Following some periods of strained relations, the fishing industry now benefits from robust partnerships among government, scientists, regulators, and supporting businesses. At North Atlantic, we collaborate with institutions like the Hull Trinity House Academy and Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA) and support the Hull Sea Cadets, guiding young talent into maritime careers. Highlighting the rewarding opportunities in fishing is essential to attract a new generation. By providing accessible education, comprehensive training, and greater visibility, we strive to reignite interest in maritime careers and secure the industry's future.

The Australian Maritime College (Jess Rice Dr Samrat Ghosh) has been visiting high schools all over Tasmania (supported by the Beacon Foundation) to promote their vocational pathways in Coastal Seafaring and higher education pathways in Ocean Seafaring, Maritime Logistics and Business Management, and Maritime Engineering. The portable simulator and the the life jacket challenge was used to engage school students from Burnie, Penguin, Smithton, and Wynyard. More schools (Rosebery, Queenstown, St. Helens, St. Marys, Devonport, and Hobart) on the cards. A big thank you to Allie, Ebony, and Tracy (from Beacon Foundation) for their help.
