June is Men's Mental Health Month, but let’s remember that the men in our lives need support all year round. 🧠💙 We’re making strides in mental health awareness, with more people opening up and learning how to support each other. However, men’s mental health often goes underreported, and many men don’t seek the help they need. Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month shines a light on this important issue. Let’s use this time to encourage conversations and offer our support. If you or someone you know needs help, organisations like Mind, Shout UK, Campaign Against Living Miserably, and Samaritans are here for you. #mensmentalhealthmonth #mensmentalhealth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #supportmen #breakthestigma #youarenotalone

And what of the mental health of someone who is a 'minority' in the UK right now, in the face of the riots and racism? Someone of the wrong......colour? Wearing the wrong head covering? I have a female colleague and close friend on holiday in Cornwall, who was with her young nieces, when a man approached them this week and shouted f***ing P*k*s. I am reeling from hearing this. What of HER mental wellbeing, living now with the shock and the enduring fear??? What of the mental state of her young nieces??? Disintegrating societies are disintegrating communities of minds. The implications are huge on so many levels. I really do hesitate to use this as an opportunity to 'sell', but at Healthy Brains Global Initiative (HBGI) (and in the world of 'outcomes contracting' generally) we endeavour to use a contracting model and we manage program performance in a way that puts the individual at the heart of the service. We embed respect for each and every person, in order to maximise outcomes. Services that DON'T do this - as a result of the way they are funded or (mis)managed, because "that's just the way we do things round here" - fail too many individuals and are ultimately complicit in our social fragmentation. How dare we accept the status quo as satisfactory. Whether that's contracting (because it's obviously my obsession) or failure in education or rabid 'newspapers' or unfettered social media or power-seeking politicians. Is there any point apologising to my friend and her family on behalf of us all?
July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, a critical opportunity to bring awareness to the unique mental health struggles that minority communities face across the globe. To adequately address these struggles, we need to build mental health solutions that prioritize the outcomes that matter to minority communities and are informed by their unique experiences. From our engagement with mothers in Limpopo, South Africa to our work in California with people experiencing homelessness and serious mental illness (SMI), HBGI strives to promote this across the programs we support. #MinorityMentalHealth

On day 15 of #16DaysOfActivism, we're reminded that a community’s mental health is deeply affected by how we support its survivors. To heal collectively, it’s essential to advocate for resources that address not just the immediate impacts of GBV, but also the long-term mental health consequences. By creating accessible mental health services, fostering safe spaces, and promoting community solidarity, we help survivors rebuild their lives and encourage healing for the entire community. Let's work together for a future where everyone can heal and thrive. 💪🏽💚 #EndGenderBasedViolence #SupportSurvivors ##RugareMentalHealthOrganization #Rugare #CommunityHealing #EndGBV #MentalHealthMatters #SupportSurvivors #HealTogether #GBVPrevention #MentalHealthAwareness #HealingThroughCommunity #OurVoicesMatter #TogetherWeCan #EmpowerSurvivors #EndTheStigma #ChangeMakers
