Namibia Biomass Industry Group’s Post

The Namibia-German Bush Control Bilateral Project concludes after a decade of success in combating bush encroachment. It emphasized sustainable biomass utilisation, leading to economic development and rangeland restoration. Through collaboration between various stakeholders, including government, private sector, academia, and civil society, significant strides were made in creating jobs, generating revenue, and restoring rangelands. Knowledge transfer was prioritised, leading to a well-documented sector. The project, commissioned by the German government and implemented by GIZ, marks a significant milestone in addressing Namibia's bush encroachment challenge and fostering economic development. #NamibiaBiomassSuccess #BushControlProject #SustainableDevelopment #BiomassUtilization Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Namibia

So much knowledge has been gained from the Project. “Well done,” I’d say to the BCBU Team, with the support of the N-BiG Team. To what extent the knowledge will be imbedded into Namibia’s governance system will determine how this sub-sector will perform and overcome some of its critical challenges. It’ll be sad to see this Project become another piece of history without the full application of the wealth of knowledge deposits.
