A new narrative for humanity integrates deep philosophical concepts with practical societal frameworks: 1. Bioma Respect and Integrated Well-Being The concept of respecting a biome while ensuring human well-being without compromising the integrity of the ecosystem could be expanded into specific policy proposals. For instance, environmental impact assessments could be mandated for all new projects, not just as a formality but as a genuine phase of planning and public discussion. 2. Regulation of AI and Attention Economy Given the pervasive influence of AI and data mining in shaping narratives for profit, your idea for robust regulation could involve establishing an international body dedicated to overseeing AI ethics, much like the role of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in nuclear regulation. This could help ensure that AI development aligns with human rights and environmental sustainability globally. 3. Redefining the State as Collective Well-Being The state as an entity prioritizing collective well-being over individual gains could benefit from integrating psychological and sociological research into policy-making. Policies could be evaluated based on their psychological impact on well-being and societal cohesion, moving beyond mere economic metrics. 4. Governance with Three Redefined Powers 5. Money, Credit, and Interest as Tools for Equity 6. Decentralized Narrative and History 7. Integration of Monismo de Triplo Aspecto in Education Applying Alfredo Pereira Jr.'s Triple Aspect Monism to education could lead to curricula that equally emphasize cognitive, physical, and emotional learning, preparing students for complex real-world challenges and promoting a well-rounded human development. 8. Cooperative Human Nature in Policy Rutger Bregman's optimistic view of human nature as cooperative rather than selfish could influence policy in significant ways. For example, social safety nets could be designed not just as aid but as investments in the collective good, encouraging community initiatives that support mutual aid and cooperation. These considerations and expansions could further enrich your vision of a new historical narrative and governance model, offering practical pathways to implement these profound philosophical insights into everyday governance and social structures. Teaching in the Master Program Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society at the University of Twente makes my day, every day! #curious students, #fantastic colleagues, #inspiring #ecosystem of #learning and #research, and a topic that relates to many #pressing #issues today: How to think about and engage with actively learning technologies (e.g. #AI) in a world in which democratic values are threatend? How to think about and engage with #sustainability in a world in which biodiversity is rapidly declining? How can we as #citizens and #scholars engage and position ourselves in such debates in which a lot is at stake? Together with students and colleagues from #philosophy, #STS, #critical #socialscience & #humanities, #ethics, #history we think about and engage with these issues every day. Curious? Come and join us: Wednesday, 21st of November, Online Open Days: https://lnkd.in/eN-ntmYT Thursday, 22nd of November, Masters Open Day (on campus): https://lnkd.in/eV9yh6dx

🚀 Exploring Posthumanism: Beyond the Human Frontier 🚀 I recently came across a fascinating post about posthumanism, a concept that was entirely new to me. 🌐 What is Posthumanism? Posthumanism challenges traditional notions of what it means to be human. It explores how advancements in technology and science could redefine human identity and capabilities. Imagine a future where humans merge with technology, or where our understanding of consciousness expands beyond biological limits. 🔍 Key Aspects: Technological Integration: How tech could enhance or transform human abilities. Philosophical Implications: Rethinking ethics, identity, and consciousness. Critique of Humanism: Moving beyond anthropocentric views to include non-human entities. 💡 Why It Matters: Posthumanism pushes us to rethink our place in the world and consider the ethical and existential questions posed by emerging technologies. It's a compelling field that intersects with AI, biotechnology, and philosophical debates. #Posthumanism #FutureTech #Transhumanism #AI #Philosophy #Innovation #Ethics #Technology #LinkedInInsights

https://lnkd.in/dEjYg5tH by Piero Dominici Cit. Abstract "Hurled into hypercomplexity, we are facing a complex process of anthropological transformation, of a shift in paradigms, models and codes, other than an irreversible synthesis of new value systems and criteria for judgment." "Our extraordinary scientific discoveries and technological innovations not only open dizzily onto as yet unimaginable horizons and scenarios, but show, ever more clearly, the urgency of radically rethinking education, teaching and training, and of a systemic approach to complexity, which in the meantime has become hypercomplexity, underlining the substantial inadequacy of our schools and universities in dealing with this hypercomplexity, in dealing with the indeterminateness and ambivalence of the ongoing metamorphosis, in dealing with the global extension of all political, social and cultural processes." "The conceptual framework of this paper, therefore, has the following objectives: a) to provide a functional definition of complexity and hypercomplexity and of our limits in understanding them; b) to highlight the urgency of a systemic approach to complexity and of rethinking education and training beyond «false dichotomies» (education determines new asymmetries and inequalities, which in turn influence educational policies)." "The social and cultural innovation belongs to those who will succeed in healing the fracture between the human and the technological, to those who will succeed in redefining and rethinking the complex relationships between the natural and the artificial, to those who will manage to bring knowledge and skills together (not to separate them), to those who will, furthermore, know how to unite and merge the two cultures (scientific and humanistic), both in terms of education and formative training and in defining profiles and professional competences." #sociology #education #complexity #management #digitalinnovation #AI

📍 Today at TABAKALERA #Donostia, I attended and participated in the yearly workshop organized by Ikerbasque #Basque Foundation for #Science. 🎯 The discussions in my group touched on essential aspects of #transdisciplinary #AI #research, #socialscience, #talent #assessment, and the need for impactful change through #socioeconomic policy impact. One key observation that emerged collectively was the importance of #transparency and #meritocracy in regular/updated #assessment systems. These values align with the principles of globally recognized high-level programmes such as #Fulbright, #ESRC, and the #EuropeanCommission. Ensuring these standards strengthens trust and fairness within #scientific communities. Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias 🌍 Additionally, I highlighted the local-global nexus and its crucial role in anchoring knowledge to create equitable #OpenAccess (#OA) scientific environments. It's vital that #policy, #advanced #research, and fair talent assessment systems work hand in hand to ensure merit-based growth, global collaboration, and innovation. In fact, facilitating the so-called #CentreforAdvancedStudies (#CAS) would be very important in this regard. A few years ago, the European Commission developed a CAS, in which I had the pleasure to contribute as Senior Scientist with other great scientist, scholars, and experts in digital transformations and #AI, particularly leading two flagship post-GDPR research/policy programmes: (i) #DigiTranScope and (ii) #AIWatch. Here is a summary of the key cross-cutting themes in #OpenAccess and the entire cutting-edge research program: https://lnkd.in/dX4BkjZn I had the chance to discuss with Ugo Mayor Felix Casanova et al. interestingly exploring #SocialImpact and #ChipWar, among others, respectively. #Academia #Publications #OpenAccess #AI #Research #SocialScience #Policy #Impact #Transparency #Meritocracy #OpenAccess #LocalGlobal #TransdisciplinaryResearch #Innovation #Excellence #PublicPolicies #KnowledgeExchange #KnowledgeTransfer Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea Irekia EJGV US-UK Fulbright Commission WISERD ESRC: Economic and Social Research Council Horizon Enfield Etorkizuna Eraikiz Fundación Ayuda en Acción

We need wisdom the most when we believe it the least. - Hans Jonas This week, I delved into "Technology and the Virtues: A Philosophical Guide to a Future Worth Wanting" by Shannon Vallor, as part of my goal to read a book a week alongside my PhD studies. The profound insights on virtue ethics and technological challenges have sparked my curiosity in organizational change, digital strategy, and transformation amidst disruption. As emerging technologies reshape our world at an unprecedented pace, the need to safeguard our future and enhance human flourishing globally becomes critical. Shannon Vallor emphasizes that beyond advanced technologies, cultivating better humans is essential for a future worth desiring. Vallor urges us to move beyond the illusion of human mastery over technosocial innovations and focus on developing moral and intellectual character to thrive in today's complex landscape. To secure a future of well-being, we must embrace lifelong learning, collaboration, and communication to navigate uncertainty with wisdom and resilience.
