Earlier this month, we joined Plan International NL for an impactful event on 'Girls in Conflict', addressing one of the most pressing issues in conflict-affected regions worldwide. The event explored crucial questions about creating meaningful impact in the world's most challenging contexts, highlighting the severe challenges girls face in conflict zones - from sexual violence to forced marriages and denial of education. The program featured moving video messages from Tasia and Aliet, young activists from South Sudan, demonstrating incredible resilience in the face of adversity. A thought-provoking panel discussion brought together diverse perspectives from Danielle Hirsch (Member of Parliament, GroenLinks-PvdA), Anne-Floor Dekker (Director, WO=MEN, Dutch Gender Platform) Salwa el Sadik (Wadi), and Sadia Allin (Director Plan International Somalia). The discussions reinforced that while challenges are significant, our collective commitment to support girls in conflict zones remains unwavering. Through partnership and collaboration, we can develop solutions that transform lives. #WomenPeaceSecurity #NAP1325 #GirlsInConflict #GenderEquality #UNSCR1325 #WPS

At DT Global Global programming around the world puts a priority on women's and girls' rights, access to education, and stopping early or forced marriages. Here in South Sudan, on the USAID Shejeh Salam activity, we commemorated the Internatinal Day of the Girl Child in rural counties by staging community wide events relaying messaging in support of these basic rights. 🌏 Do you know 1 in 5 girls globally are married before they are 18? 👧 Spotlighting the global challenges that disproportionately affect young women and girls and call for greater action to ensure all girls are protected, respected and empowered. 👰 DT Global's DFAT-funded #ASEANACT program is supporting #ASEAN to develop a regional guide to prevent & respond to child & forced marriage in the context of trafficking. 🙌 Girls have a vision of a world where they can thrive. 🔗 For more: https://ow.ly/Smpu30sHaq7 #IWork4DTGlobal #WeAreDTGlobal #Respect #Protect #Empower #Thrive #GirlsVisionForTheFuture #InternationalDevelopment

On this International Day of the Girl, as the Youth Anti-FGM Network marks this occasion in various ways, including participating in the national celebration in Kajiado County, I feel compelled to reflect on pressing humanitarian crises. This year, I am deeply moved by the situations in Sudan, the ongoing Israel- Palestine War, and the Taliban’s disruption of girls’ education in Afghanistan. As a brother to only sisters, I cannot accept a future where their visions are confined by patriarchal structures and the prevailing world order. I urge all stakeholders to take bolder actions, make stronger commitments, and redefine the language surrounding violence against women and girls. Let us move beyond rhetoric to implement actionable steps that enable young people to transform their dreams and aspirations into fulfilling lives. Together, we must fight for a future where every girl can thrive—because their potential cannot be stifled. Let’s make this our mission, and let nothing stand in our way. Together we are positively changing the lives of young people across the country! There is a strong call to action to safeguard not only the rights of our children but their childhood itself. Many are forced into a position of maturity long before necessary, due to circumstance, lack of opportunity etc. As a country we have the obligation, further entrenched through the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as well as the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, to ensure a lived reality of dignity, respect, and equality. To do so, requires providing young South Africans with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with the various issues faced, be it economic or societal. What are your thoughts? What other synergies are needed? #LetsEngage #PowerTalk #YouthEmpowerment#FutureEntrepreneurs

In countries without protective laws against gender-based domestic violence, it poses a threat to women's economic development. This is seen in most African countries where women are deprived of decision-making power, and during economic downturns such as the COVID-19 pandemic crises. #TheYuapartAgenda #AmplifyingVoices #EndingGBV Yuapart Africa The WillMa Youth Club (WYC) African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) Mission to Transform Lives International Femishare Foundation.
