If You See Disrespect, Say Something! By Dee Perez, NAPS New York Area Vice President ➡️ The holiday season is upon us and although most people exhibit good cheer toward each other, the USPS is different. Everyone is under additional stress due to peak season performance expectations, almost as much as during the extraordinary pressure of the political mailing season. I borrowed this from Dan Murray-Serter 🧠 and wanted to make sure that the United States Postal Service upper management sees this. Managers on the front lines sometimes treat the carriers like machines because there are unrealistic expectations placed upon them. Those managers have MPOOs or MCSOs (or Postmasters) who also have unrealistic expectations placed on them from their District Managers, who have those unrealistic expectations placed on them from above, and so on. This whole thing causes harm to the system as a whole. Management at every level becomes overly stressed about barely attainable goals. Carriers and clerks then are worked to injury, exhaustion, or complete burnout. We are expected to be at 100% everyday and we aren’t. We get sick. We have ailments. We aren’t machines. Stop treating employees like numbers. You currently do.

Not at all supply chain or data related, but something that is even more important. https://lnkd.in/eGi25GXj Having spent the vast majority of my life in the Central Time Zone, I respectfully submit this author is completely wrong. Central Time is Goldilocks Time - rarely too early or too late for meetings and when it is, you probably shouldn't be joining anyways. Sure, living here on the Midwest Coast requires having a functional understanding of how to schedule meetings across time zones, but that's a skill you should have as an adult in a global economy. Now, if you want to know a dysfunctional time zone situation, look at my home state of Indiana. Growing up in Northwest Indiana, we were on Central Time ("Chicago time") but most of the state was on Eastern Time (designated as "South Bend time," for the city sixty miles east). Complicating the issue was that throughout my upbringing and college years, the Central Time zone counties of Indiana observed Daylight Saving Time, whereas the Eastern Time Zone counties did not. So during Standard Time days, the state was on different times; during DST days, it was on the same time. Mitch Daniels ran for, and won, Governor of Indiana partly on unifying the state all onto DST and ending this madness. https://lnkd.in/e4qGkNFX

Wall street journal had a great piece on the fall of TGI Fridays. Hidden within the article was this very telling nugget. When your abundant resources and supposed brainpower leave you performing significantly worse than your franchisees, serious introspection of every facet of your company is in order. This speaks volumes to why they're in a financial existential crisis:
