The documentary explores the complex dynamics surrounding the use of Indigenous mascots and a town’s struggle to reckon with their identity and past. We hope to see you there as the film explores themes of cultural identity, reconciliation, and the enduring impact of colonial legacies. After the film, Ambassador Maulian Bryant, Michael-Corey Hinton, and Joe Hall will join the film's co-directors, David Camlin and Megan Grumbling, for a panel discussion about the film and current issues Wabanaki communities face.
Lewiston - Thursday, May 16 - 6:00 p.m. - Olin Arts Center

COWBOY LEADERSHIP: HELPING TO BUILD NEW BUSINESS AND BUSINESSES: Start-Up Specialist Pioneering Innovations in Streaming, Movie Marketing, Digital Out-of-Home, Sports Entertainment, and Equestrian Lifestyle Services
In light of the evolving landscape of film consumption, it's clear that the industry is shifting away from a one-size-fits-all model, acknowledging that audiences now have diverse preferences for how they experience storytelling. With the widespread adoption of 4K large screens and advanced sound systems in homes, some films are now being crafted specifically for in-home viewing. These may feature characteristic tailored to this environment. Additionally, with the advent of devices like Apple's ProVision, some films will be made for a more dramatic immersive personal experiences that leverages this viewing technology.
Conversely, certain films will still be designed with the theatrical experience in mind, capitalizing on the unique communal atmosphere that only cinemas can provide. This bifurcation signifies a broader transformation within the industry, leading to a richer variety of storytelling methods and greater opportunities for creators and audiences alike.
Theaters, in response, would do well to heed Theodore Levitt's advice and reconsider their core business proposition. It's no longer just about movies in theaters, but about showcasing the movie viewing experience to audience whether it is in-theaters, in-home, or directly in the viewers eyes through an in-goggle immersive experience. Ultimately, it's about curating the movies to audiences. By embracing this paradigm, theaters can remain relevant and vital in an increasingly segmented market.
He makes a lot of good points. Worth reading in full.
"Martin Scorsese expanded upon his opinions on the current state of cinema during a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival, where he is receiving an Honorary Golden Bear.
When asked if cinema could be dying, Scorsese said he prefers to think of the industry as “transforming.”
“I don’t think it’s dying at all, no. I think it’s transforming,” Scorsese said. “It never was meant to be one thing. We were used to it being one thing. I grew up [with cinema] as one thing: if you wanted to see a movie you went to a theater. A good theater or a bad theater, but it was a theater. It was always a communal experience.”"

The path to meaningful content distribution is especially tricky, and producers are rethinking traditional models. Kudos to Dances with Films for presenting a first rate film sales and distribution panel with industry leaders Sejin Croninger (Paramount), Brian O'Shea (The Exchange), and Bill Vergos (Freestyle Digital), hosted by Jon Fitzgerald (Cause Cinema). Participating with my industry colleagues, we discussed customized, alternate approaches to sales and distribution in the emerging marketplace. While change takes time, we recognized reasons to be optimistic.

Only 17% of indie films make six figures or more from a theatrical release
• 40% don't release at all
• 35% don't report numbers
• 8% gross between $1 and $100k
Why? Because they didn't have a strategy to make six, seven, or even eight figures in theaters
We wanted to understand how others had done it
Then implement the strategy ourselves
Our first film opens on 200+ screens this weekend (you can get tickets at faith-of-angels.com
But...
If you want to see the EXACT strategy we used to get here
I wrote it up for you here:
