In my most recent article for Breaking The Lines, I analysed the tactical setup of Crystal Palace's new manager, Oliver Glasner, and how it revitalised the club away from relegation fears to an incredible top half finish to their 23/24 Premier League campaign. From the shapes In Possession, Out of possession and in transition, to patterns that have accentuated the quality of players such as Adam Wharton, Olise, Eze and Mateta, to other relevant intricacies in their style. https://lnkd.in/e5V4BiAG

"🏁💰 Las Vegas Grand Prix: Accelerating Economic Growth! 💰🏁 Clark County, Nev. recently unveiled a compelling report shedding light on the fiscal impacts of the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix debut last November. Amidst ongoing debates on the economic benefits of sports events, the numbers speak volumes! 📊💼 🔹 $77 million in tax revenues boosted state and local coffers. 🔹 Net visitor spending soared to a staggering $501 million. 🔹 Incoming fans splurged an average of over $4,100 each, more than triple the norm for Las Vegas visitors. These figures underscore the undeniable economic vitality the Grand Prix brought to Las Vegas. Despite disruptions to locals and revenue losses for area businesses, the city's allure for F1 remains unwavering. 🏎️💨 Let's keep the momentum going! #LasVegasGrandPrix #EconomicImpact #F1"

Achieving large spans remains an impressive challenge. Thoughtful design and good coordination are essential. And then there stands a 'permanent structure' where membrane structures have their origins in 'temporary realisations'. #tensinetassociation #membranestructures #tensilearchitecture

I, like so many neutrals, felt for Coventry yesterday. And what does all this have to do with NHS Continuing Healthcare? Well in terms of values, and application of process, an awful lot. This was a case where 'Doing Things Right' got it so wrong. What happened to pragmatism ? What happened to doing the Right Thing ? My old boss in CHC taught me only one skill necessary in being a NHS Commissioner - knowing when to Do Things Right and Knowing When to Do the Right Thing. Operating in a system that is so heavily Value based, we are often called to consider which button to press at a moments notice. And we must do this with impartiality and an insight into the impact of our decisions across the whole gamut of the population we serve, not just our team, or division. And yesterday was a case in point. Well done Coventry for becoming the greatest cup final team that never was. VAR got it right, but the decision was so wrong. Let's remember this principle in the work we do every day; and if you would like to learn more about NHS CHC and its application, ask me about our two day values and competency based educational (not training) module, a unique and immersive experience for all practitioners across both health and social care planes.

This is not what football is about. ⚽️ VAR ruined one of the greatest FA Cup moments ever. 😭 A “toenail offside” call disrupted what could have been a legendary comeback for Coventry, leaving many fans and spectators frustrated. 😣 This scenario parallels the need for fair and effective governance in business. 💭 Just as a flawed VAR decision can disrupt the fairness of a football match, poor governance can disrupt the integrity of business decisions. 🤔 It's a reminder that we need to prioritise transparency and accountability in all aspects of our lives, whether on the field or in the boardroom. 💪🏽 Coventry should be in the final. ⚽️

„Life on Earth“ was the first book I asked for as a child, and it had a profound impact on how I see the world. David Attenborough’s work introduced me to the breathtaking biodiversity of our planet, from the arid deserts to lush jungles, from the deep seas to the icy poles. He showed how each life on this planet is interconnected and finely tuned together. I remember vividly reading about the Albatross, with its impressive wingspan, in his book "The Living Planet"; the mesmerizing dance of the bird of paradise, and the gigantic Goliath beetle as big as my palm in "Life on Earth." Each story deepened my awe for the natural world. Einstein once remarked, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle" (attributed to him though not definitively proven). David Attenborough embodies this philosophy, revealing to us the miracles all around. Today, his message is more urgent than ever as we face the sixth mass extinction. Unlike previous events caused by natural phenomena, this extinction is driven by human activity, including habitat destruction, climate change, and pollution. Researchers indicate we are currently witnessing species going extinct at rates much higher than the natural background rates, highlighting the critical need for urgent action to prevent future loss. As a conscious species, it is our duty to protect the miracle of life on this blue planet. We are not the end result of evolution but a part of it. Our future depends on the conscious decisions we make today. Humanity cannot thrive without respecting and protecting all living beings on our planet, our home. Thank you, David Attenborough, for inspiring us to see and safeguard the wonders of our world. 🌿 #Biodiversity #Conservation #DavidAttenborough #LifeOnEarth #ProtectOurPlanet

Vandy takes down Alabama. LeBron takes the court with Bronny. Liberty take down the defending champs. The Phillies take one away the Mets thought they had. What a great weekend to be a sports fan. So, let's take this opportunity to open up nominations for this week's Nice Guys and Gals. Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals). If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EST on Thursday. There are only 3 requirements: 1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate 2) you can only nominate one person per week 3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀 If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement. Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice. Have a great week, everyone. https://lnkd.in/ga-fsi3R #network #sportsbiz #people #niceguy #networking #sportsmarketing
