On this #NationalDayOfServiceandRemembrance, let's honor the lives lost on 9/11 by embodying the spirit of unity and compassion that arose in its aftermath. Dedicating ourselves to serving our communities is a powerful way to pay tribute to those we lost and create a more positive future. Here are some meaningful ways you can give back: ⏩Volunteer at a Local Food Bank: Help pack meals for those in need and ensure no one goes hungry. ⏩Participate in a Community Clean-Up: Join local efforts to beautify your neighborhood and create a welcoming environment for all. ⏩Donate Blood: Consider donating blood at a local blood drive to help save lives in your community. ⏩Support a Veteran Organization: Volunteer your time or donate to organizations that support veterans and their families. ⏩Perform Random Acts of Kindness: Whether it’s paying for someone’s coffee or writing a note of appreciation, small gestures can make a big impact. Let's turn this day of remembrance into a day of action. Share your ideas for serving others in the comments below! #ServiceToOthers #HonorAndRemember #911 #NeverForget

So powerful…
Every parent wants their child to feel safe and secure in their own home but love alone won’t protect a child from the harsh reality of homelessness this winter. Our 2024 Christmas appeal highlights the grim conditions facing thousands of families in temporary accommodation, with the message that it doesn’t have to be this way. Over 150,000 children are experiencing homelessness. Often living in damp, cold and cramped temporary accommodation. Heartbreakingly, 62% of families in temporary accommodation have been living there for more than one year. Unfortunately, love alone can’t change this reality. But together, we could. HELP HOMELESS STREET ANGELS GET BACK ON THE ROAD 🙏 For years, the Homeless Street Angels have been a lifeline for those experiencing homelessness, providing food, clothing, and support on the streets. Their ford transit van was not just a vehicle—it was hope on wheels, bringing comfort to those in desperate need. ❤️ But now, that hope is parked indefinitely. The van is out of commission, and the streets are colder without the Angels’ vital support. 💔 We Need Your Help 💔 If we can come together as a LinkedIn community, we can get the Angels back on the road where they belong. Whether it’s a donation, a connection to someone who can provide a van, or even spreading this message to your networks—every action matters. 🙏 Let’s show that the power of LinkedIn extends far beyond business, and into the heart of our communities. If you or your company has a ford transit van, or if you know of anyone who can help, please get in touch. Together, we can keep hope alive for those who need it most. #HomelessStreetAngels #CommunitySupport #LinkedInForGood #DonateNow #MakeADifference Shelley Joyce Becky Joyce

We are proud to announce that our CEO, Christofer Catania, is again supporting the Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Taking place on the 20th of June this initiative raises awareness and funds for individuals experiencing homelessness. This year marks Chris’ fifth participation, highlighting his ongoing commitment to positively impacting our community. The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a powerful experience that allows business leaders to understand the hardships faced by those without a place to call home. By spending a night sleeping rough, participants like Chris gain firsthand insight into the daily struggles of the homeless, fostering greater empathy and a stronger resolve to drive change. Chris’ participation is a testament to his dedication to social responsibility and reflects the core values of MEC. At MEC, we believe in making a difference not just within the corporate world, but also within our communities. Chris’ example inspires our entire team to engage in philanthropic endeavours and support initiatives that create meaningful, positive impacts. We invite you to join us in supporting Chris and this worthy cause. Your donations will provide essential support and resources to those in need. 🧡 Spreading Warmth, One Blanket at a Time 🧡 Fall is in the air! As temperatures drop, many of us take warmth and comfort for granted. But for individuals experiencing homelessness, a blanket or sleeping bag can mean the difference between a night of suffering and a night of rest. I’d like to shine a spotlight on an inspiring initiative by the Dorcas Heart non-profit. This incredible organization provides essential blankets and sleeping bags to those in need, offering not only physical warmth but also a message of hope and compassion. Here’s why this effort matters: ✨ Direct Impact: D.HEART works with community volunteers and partners to ensure donations reach those most in need. ✨ Dignity & Care: A blanket isn’t just a piece of fabric – it’s a simple yet powerful symbol of dignity and care. ✨ Community Involvement: Every contribution, whether a donation or volunteer effort, makes a tangible difference. If you're looking to support a cause that creates an immediate impact, consider joining or donating. The current goal is to provide 300 sleeping bags and 300 blankets, at a cost of $25 each, to those in need. Let’s help them continue their mission to bring warmth to those who need it most. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our communities this winter! Website: https://lnkd.in/ezN8kJyp For questions, please connect with Mena Enaohwo Esq., CAMS, CFE.

Gratitude means everything when you're going through the toughest times, and my family is certainly in the midst of one. Facing the possibility of homelessness has been an incredibly difficult journey, but we’ve been given a temporary lifeline that brings us some much-needed relief. Thanks to the generosity of someone who reached out to help, we’ve secured a place to stay until September 12th. While this is not a permanent solution, and we’re still uncertain about what will happen after that date, this arrangement gives us a short but vital window of stability. It’s a silver lining in what has been a very trying time, and we are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to regroup and plan for the future. We’re also deeply humbled by the support we’ve received through our GoFundMe page. So far, we’ve raised £210, which is phenomenal. Every single donation is making a real impact, helping us take steps toward finding a permanent home. That said, we’re still a long way from our goal, and the reality is that we need more help to secure a stable future for my children and me. This support, however small it may seem, is powerful. It’s not just about the financial relief—it’s about the kindness and community behind it. Knowing that people are willing to stand with us gives us hope and the strength to keep pushing forward. I will continue sharing updates on our journey and how these donations are making a real difference in our lives. The path ahead is still challenging, but with the help we’ve already received and the kindness of those around us, I believe we’re getting closer to a lasting solution. If you’re able to donate, or even just share our story, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit helps bring us one step closer to finding a home. You can find the link to our GoFundMe in the comments. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Your generosity has brought us hope in a time when we need it most. #Grateful #Homelessness #CommunitySupport #SilverLinings #HopeInAction #GoFundMe #FamilyFirst #FindingHome #Resilience #Support

Ending homelessness requires that we stop the inflow of people hitting the homeless response system. Programs like Problem Solving Access Points are critical to this work because not only is preventing homelessness the moral and ethical thing to do, it saves our community in housing costs later down the road. Today, on #BigDOG, consider donating to Sacramento Steps Forward: bit.ly/BDOGSSF
Preventing individuals and families from becoming homeless is core to our mission at Sacramento Steps Forward. We achieve this by utilizing the Coordinated Access System (211-8) to offer financial assistance for essential expenses like rent payments, car repairs, or bills that could otherwise lead to homelessness. In 2023, our problem-solving funds helped 805 households avoid homelessness. We also lead gathering and analyzing data on those who are, or are at risk of, becoming homeless. This work, done through the Point-In-Time Count and other initiatives, informs and advances prevention strategies. Your donation during this Big Day of Giving campaign enables us to continue providing immediate and impactful support to those in need: bit.ly/BDOGSSF
