Telescopic cranes execute the arduous tasks of lifting and moving heavy objects, with loads sometimes weighing beyond 1,000 tons. Consequently, the telescopic segments that form central part of the crane absorb extreme surface pressures during the operation. Smooth movement of these telescopic tubular segments is directly related to health of the lubricating film on the segments. Given that #Cranes mostly operate under dusty conditions with direct exposure to 🌞 weather conditions such as humidity, rain 🌧 and temperature variations, the lubricating film should remain intact. Any variation or break of the film on the sliding surface would result in screeching noise , jerks or erratic movement of the boom. How Do You Erect a Telephone Mast in the Middle of the Woods? 🌲 When it comes to erecting a telephone mast in a remote woodland, the right equipment can make all the difference. On this project, our UNIC URW-1006 Mini Spider Crane 🕷️ paired with a 1000kg Hydraulic Fly Jib took on this challenging task with ease. Navigating narrow country lanes, bridleways, and sloping terrain would be impossible for many machines, but the compact yet powerful URW-1006 is built to tackle challenging landscapes. ⛰️ Its rugged tracks and compact frame allow it to cross rough terrain with confidence. Once we reached the site, the crane’s configurable outriggers provided a secure setup on the hillside, even on uneven ground. The 1000kg Fly Jib gave us the extra reach needed to precisely position each section of the mast. Our operator, with the help of a radio remote control, 🎮 manoeuvred each load smoothly into place while the team worked efficiently on the assembly. Behind the Scenes at the £50M Bobcat EMEA Innovation Centre in the Czech Republic, where it creates the ‘One Tough Animal’ machines of the future. I recently had an exclusive tour of the facility with Ales, where over 150 engineers work on new machines and the latest technologies. We started in one of the biggest noise chambers in Europe that helps it test and optimise machines. Ales: “This chamber helps us understand the noise radiation from our machines, ensuring we meet low-noise standards.” We then discovered its specialist machining equipment bays that support the construction of prototype machines and components. It was then off to the temperature control chamber where Ales said: “In our chambers, we simulate conditions from -40°C to 50°C to make sure machines can perform in a variety of climates across the globe.
