***THOUGHTS FROM THE TRAIL*** We officially welcomed a new four-legged member to our family. Meet Blaze! She’s a sweet, 19 y/o gal that has been there/done that in terms of rodeo. Our youngest daughter has also been riding for a bit and since we already owned one horse, we thought, what the heck, what’s one more! Blaze is what they consider a babysitter horse. She has a ton of giddy-up left in her when asked, but is seasoned enough to only go as fast as the rider on her back asks, which makes her a perfect horse for my daughter to learn and grow with. When you watch Queenie and Blaze run barrels or rope steers, they look very similar. In fact, they both carry the same classification of Quarter Horse, yet they’re two completely different horses. This concept translates perfectly into the professional world. Two job titles can appear similar across different organizations but could require totally different skill sets and personalities. Don’t judge a role or a candidate solely by the title. Dive deeper. Look at the environment, requirements, and the unique cultural fit of each organization. Understanding these nuances can significantly enhance your career journey or hiring process.

It’s time for this month’s ✨Employee Spotlight✨ Meet Tom Anglin! Tom is one of our Digital Sales Executives at Denver Post Media! With 2 1/2 years under his belt here, Tom is a tremendous asset to our team!💪🏼 And don’t forget to congratulate him, as he just tied the knot a couple weeks ago!🎉 What do you enjoy most about your job role? I definitely enjoy meeting so many interesting people, and designing campaigns to fit their specific needs. With the digital marketing landscape constantly evolving, you never really feel stagnant or limited with your set of tools, which keeps everything exciting all the time. On top of that, we’ve got an amazing team - whether it’s support while you’re on the clock, or laughs when you’re off the clock, having great people by your side is crucial for success and happiness in work and in life. What's your favorite..... Restaurant in CO: Temaki Den in The Source. Order “omakase” style and thank me later. Concert You’ve Been To: Phish at Dick’s Sporting Goods, 9/6/15, with the “THANK YOU” encore. Place You’ve Traveled: Costa Rica - Tarzan jump in the jungle, swimming with snakes in the Tortuguero River, horseback riding at Monte Verde, and soccer with some locals somewhere in between. What's your go-to karaoke song? Really depends on the vibe. If everyone’s upbeat, I’ll do “Allstar” by Smash Mouth. If it’s a dusty dive, I’m going with “Amarillo by Morning” by George Strait. Bucket List Item? Backpack through Patagonia Currently Binge Watching? Succession Hobbies? Anything outdoors - skiing, hiking, camping, etc. Fun fact people don’t know about you? This one’s pretty wild, but I recently found out that I’m a distant relative of the Anglin brothers who escaped Alcatraz.

As Consultation GuRU, I frequently find fault with pubic consultations. But it's great occasionally to find an eye-catching best practice exemplar. What makes this worth examining is that surely we will see more communities like Cheddar consider traffic restrictions as part of an active travel strategy, and to offer local people a respite from noise and environmental degradation. Good report - worth reading - so congratulations to Ben and all others involved. Just a single thought to ponder. We now understand the support given to this proposal from those who responded to this consultation. But how much is known about the views of those who did not participate? Will decision-makers want to see a structured sample survey to complement this excellent consultation? #consultation #consultationguru #sedgemoor #cheddar #etro #trafficfreedays #consultationbestpractice
Director @ Distinctive Communications ▪︎ Chartered PR ▪︎ Providing stand-out comms support for place-makers, purposeful businesses and public bodies ▪︎ Strategy ▪︎ Campaigns ▪︎ Content ▪︎ Online ▪︎ Offline ▪︎ In person
We recently completed a very focused piece of engagement on proposals to make Cheddar Gorge traffic free for a day a month. The consultation had a huge response, with more than 1,700 people taking part. While most said they support the measures, even those who had concerns (almost entirely) raised them constructively. It's a world away from the frenzied 'war on cars' rhetoric across parts of the media, and an example of how professional, empathetic comms can provide a space for people to say what they think. There were lots of comments raised that weren't directly related to the proposals. The team shared these with other partners to consider. We hope they're useful in shaping a safe, welcoming, well connected place that many people clearly want to see. Thanks to everyone who took the time to engage, and to Jim (our client) for the conversations, answering questions and leading from the front. And fantastic work by Arianne leading the communications. Another great team effort. We're looking forward to hearing about the next steps. If you're looking at similar schemes that need careful comms handling, I'm happy to chat📞 And if you're interested in the work we did, I've included a link to the report in the comments

We interviewed Paul Spies, our former Junior Events & Riders Coordinator, about his internship experience at FWT: What did you like the most about this experience? "Having responsibilities and working from the beginning until the end. You start preparing all the website and liveheats, you close invitation and you upload results, it's the whole tour and much more, especially on site getting insights into many different fields." How do you think experience will contribute to your future career? "It shaped me and my attitude towards work I enjoyed. I experienced how far I could push if necessary, driven either by internal motivation or the urge to deliver. I learned how to handle responsibilities and improved my communication with teammates to help each other or troubleshoot in stressful situations." How would you introduce the FWT to someone new to the company? "Dynamic group of people, coming together to create and push a sport to the limit with pure quality but never losing the fun or relaxation in between." Do you have any anecdotes from this past season to share? "No matter how stressful it is in the moment, the beer after tastes 10 times better if you did your best!" Explore this position, along with nine others that are currently open for the upcoming winter season at FWT. Apply here: https://lnkd.in/eucVikHi
