Masters of Digital 2024: The Future of European Connectivity   Today, I had a fruitful debate on the Future of Connectivity in Europe hosted by Digital Europe. Alongside outstanding speakers Emilija Stojmenova, Rof Wener, Christian Leon, and Peter Weckesser, our dialogue was expertly moderated by Milda Basiuyte.   We have debated on how to boost the European connectivity landscape forward. An important debate that will continue in the upcoming months, now enriched by the Commission’s White Paper ‘How to master Europe’s Digital Infrastructure needs?’, presented today. I am looking forward to the largest edition yet of Connected Germany - and the timing is perfect as Europe's biggest economy is on a knife edge. A headline in the Financial Times this week referred to “Deutschland im Ausverkauf” - literally Germany on sale as international buyers swoop on prized corporate assets, whilst internal wrangling at a governmental level is only accentuating the race to stagnation. The FT's Martin E. Sandbu recently reported how parts of government have 'taken fright from the future' seeking to maintain the status quo of how country has always done things, whilst others- such as Isabel Schnabel of the European Central Bank - are warning the country against resisting change. Whilst these comments aren't necessarily directed towards German connectivity they are undoubtedly symptomatic of the problems facing rollout of next generation networks in the country and ultimately the evolution to a thriving futureproof economy.
