Love this ❤️👍 Imagine trying to use a sword to chop vegetables or a kitchen knife in battle. Both tools serve their purpose — but only in the right context. The same principle applies to Finance roles. 🛡️ **Your CFO** is there to drive *strategy*. They’re focused on the big picture: guiding long-term decisions, optimizing resources, and ensuring the company’s financial health aligns with its goals. 📊 **Your Financial Analyst** brings *precision to projections*. They transform data into insight, helping predict future trends and shaping actionable forecasts that fuel strategic choices. 🔍 **Your Accountant** holds *accuracy in reconciliations*. They ensure the numbers are aligned, keeping financial records clean, compliant, and prepared for reporting. Each role has unique expertise and value. When a team is structured with clear responsibilities and each member brings their competence to the table, it creates resilience and agility, allowing businesses to make informed, timely decisions. Embrace the strengths each role brings — because the right person, in the right role, makes all the difference. #Finance #CFO #FinancialAnalyst #Accountant #RoleClarity #FinanceTeam #Competence #BusinessStrategy #SegregationOfDuties #FinancialLeadership
"I’m building a finance team, but we’re not seeing results." If this is you, you have a role alignment problem. ~~~ Want a high-resolution copy? Comment "Clarity" 👇 ~~~ You can’t just assign general finance tasks and expect your CFO, Financial Analyst, and Accountant to deliver results on all fronts. Sure, you might see some small wins here and there… …but the majority of the impact comes when each role focuses on its specific expertise. I’m talking about leveraging your CFO for strategy, your Financial Analyst for projections, and your Accountant for reconciliations. And the surprising part? 99% of the time, this simple alignment makes all the difference. Earlier this year, I consulted with a company where just redefining roles led to a significant boost in efficiency. As long as you’re assigning tasks intentionally, I promise your team’s strengths will shine. They’re working. Waiting for the right focus. Building a solid foundation. Until one day, they’re each contributing to growth in their own way. So please … rethink how you’re using each role. Success in finance isn’t about piling on tasks… …it’s about refining each role so your team can drive impactful results. Give your team clarity.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗖𝗙𝗢/ 𝗙𝗗 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗼? (𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿) A good question and determined by the size of the organisation. In SMEs, the existing finance team and use of external accountants covers transactional postings, management reporting, tax filings and compliance. The Finance Director in this case will be much more hands on 👋 covering a number of roles: • Director of Financial Reporting • Director/ Head of Financial Planning & Analysis • Finance Director • Chief Financial Officer • Financial Controller In large corporates you might have an FD reporting into a CFO • With separate Financial Reporting and FPA roles (Directors or Heads of) • With Finance Managers and Controllers in place • Followed by separate Credit Control and Purchase ledger teams Here the CFO will rely on these Finance Team Members to ensure accurate information. They will focus on the company's financial future, strategy, working with other members of the C-Suite and the outside world relationships. A Fractional Finance Director is going to be working in SMEs. A Fractional Finance Director will therefore be covering a multitude of areas and gaps (initially) 👉 Identifying where the finance team needs to be strengthened 👉 Bringing in Finance Manager or Controller where applicable 👉 To add value, analysis and insight for the business to make better decisions. Their involvement in Strategy will clearly be different to that of a CFO in a large organisation who probably hasn’t posted a journal in 20 years. Strategy for me would be a voice at Board Meetings and discussions with Owners/ Directors to visualise and create an end goal. 🚀 👉 Providing financial models and scenarios to support this for the business and shareholders. 👉 Aligning and communicating these goals across all departments 👉 Implementing financial and operational KPIs 👉 Identify other areas for development and measurable milestones to be tracked over time. 👉 Regular review of these milestones and plans 👉 Adjusting plans accordingly based on success and execution of the original plans. Plus, the little matter of raising any finance and funding along the way to support the goals. #WhatDoWeDo #FractionalFinanceDirector #CFO #FD #SME
