You don't need another degree. #Nurses, let’s talk about why you don’t need another degree to start a Care Management agency and contribute to the inevitable transition to Value-Based Care. Less than three years ago, I started my care management agency. Armed with an ADN and 20 years of nursing experience in various areas, I was confident I could succeed without a formal background in care management. And I haven’t looked back. I often speak with advanced practice nurses who believe they need more experience as a care manager before starting their own business. But you already have the tools you need. You've been doing the work for years. Understanding the programs and your role in implementing, developing, and ensuring these programs are effective is crucial. I chose to start my business instead of going back to school, and I don’t regret it. While I may eventually pursue my BSN, for now, I know that my existing knowledge, resources, and mentors are enough. As nurses, we are the bridge connecting patients and providers. We are the connectors, and care management comes naturally to us. You have the skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. You’ve developed these skills through years of experience in different nursing roles. Believe in your abilities and take the leap. You don't need another degree to make a significant impact in the world of Value-Based Care. Remember, you have the tools. You just have to believe that you do. That’s how I started, and you can too. #NurseEntrepreneurship #CareManagement #ValueBasedCare #NursingLeadership #nursesofLinkedIn
Postponing advancing your entrepreneurial endeavors until you gain additional education can mask analysis paralysis. As scholars and clinicians we think we need to figure it all out before we take that leap. In contrast, entrepreneurs take the leap and figure it out as they go.
