When it comes to diet and lifestyle changes, mindset is everything. If you are trapped in a cycle of no exercise, junk food, alcohol, low water intake etc. you may lack the energy and willpower to fight your way back out. It can be very daunting to make so many changes at one time, especially if life is currently kicking you up the pants. When I see clients with overwhelm in their eyes, we work on one thing at a time. It is easier to just focus on breakfast rather than change every meal throughout the day. Or we start with a 10-minute walk around the block 3 days per week. Or we start with just increasing water to 1 or 2L per day. Or we start with cutting out unhealthy snacks. Or we start with meditation twice per week. The next time I see them, we work on adding a little more to what they have already achieved. Sometimes there's a step back and that’s ok. We focus on moving forward from their current achievements.
