Throughout my twenty year career in comms, I’ve seen just how often internal information slips beyond the company walls. At one of my former employers, internal sales pitches on certain properties would somehow end up in the hands of the media, who then speculated on target revenues. This caused all sorts of panic, both internally and across the trade industry. Especially, as we weren’t an organisation that openly spoke of sales targets. It’s a reminder that there’s no real divide between internal and external communication; what’s shared inside can just as quickly make its way out. And while it sounds simple to say, dealing with leaks is far from easy. Preventing them starts with fostering a culture of trust and transparency, where employees feel genuinely valued. But when leaks do happen, responding quickly and honestly is critical. It’s about managing the narrative before speculation spirals. Securing communication channels and keeping sensitive information on a need-to-know basis are essential, too. And rather than focusing on threats, treating leaks as a chance to learn and improve strengthens internal unity. Legal action may sometimes be necessary, but it’s important to balance that with keeping morale intact. The truth is, leaks are bound to happen, but how we handle them is what truly counts. At GOOD DAY PR & Strategic Communications FZ LLC, we help organisations navigate these sensitive situations with the right balance of transparency and control. From building trust and alignment within teams to managing the narrative when a crisis hits, we offer tailored strategies to strengthen both internal and external communications. If you’re looking to fortify your communications and safeguard your reputation, reach out to see how we can support you. #strategiccomms #internalcomms #leaks #pr #gooddaypr #comms #crisiscomms #internalandexternalcomms

I’ve worked for a business trade body, tech scale-up, big infrastructure and Government. Random? A strategic masterstroke? I’ll never tell…. But having said I’m leaving DSIT to be a comms consultant, one question I’ve been asked quite a few times is ‘why did you go into Government?’ – so in the hope that this may persuade some other comms contacts to give Government a go, here are my top 3 reasons why you should give Government Comms a go! 🔊 There is ‘a room where it happens’ – and comms will be in it. So if being at the heart of the action inspires you, there can be no better place than Government comms! 🔊 Even within a comms team – there are a huge variety of roles and we will always try and give people experience across teams (and in other Departments) if that will help enhance their careers. Of course lots of biz will do this too but the scale of Government comms is pretty unmatched. In just the last month in DSIT, Karsten Walter returned to us from a spell at FCDO and Arabella Goldring and Lily Anderson both did stints with different comms teams internally. 🔊 Speaking of variety, you’ll be hard pushed to find an audience that we aren’t trying to reach. I’ve developed comms plans to reach truck drivers to get ready for Brexit, VCs to encourage investment in UK science and tech and people who lived in mobile homes who were entitled to a specific energy support scheme. This really pushes you to be creative and to use research to support your ideas. Do share with anyone who you think might be interested in applying! And not to make this all about us but we have a pretty exceptional job opening in DSIT at the moment – to help us craft the comms strategy for the AI Safety Institute…. https://lnkd.in/eWZYgbM2

- The Truth about Analyst Relations Myths - Myth: Analyst Relations is like public relations. Assumption: Giving the analysts positive information will ensure they write a nice piece about us. The Reality: Analysts will see through pitches that PR curates and delivers. Press releases may be informative and a product launch may be interesting, but the analyst community will not write about this as an event, as they understand it is incorporated in a larger narrative. They will look for verifiable proof points and customer references to confirm or refute vendors’ assertions. What's the *magic* number for hiring your first full-time internal communications role? 250 employees? 500 employees? 1000 employees? We're hiring ours at 60. ...is that TOO early? Maybe, but I think it'll be incredible to see what an internal communicator can do when they aren't tasked with fixing a system and culture that's already broken, and are instead given the freedom and trust to build it the way they would want it from the very beginning. 💙 #internalcommunications #employeecommunications
