Happy world book day! Books are such a precious thing and often privilege as so many do not have access to books or local libraries. Which is why it’s so important that we continue to support local libraries, schools and charities. Books are not just about learning factually. Stories are an integral part of child development that open up a door to readers of all ages in learning about life, issues and topics that are often deemed as taboo or too young for a child to read. They also provide comfort and entertainment and allow children to see, feel, imagine wondrous worlds — whilst building vocabulary. And of course this extends to adults too. Books are not about reading tales for entertainment (that’s a bonus). They provide comfort and deep longing connection with characters that we can often relate to.
