National Credit Union Foundation’s Post

🌟 Celebrating transformational leadership in the credit union movement and Herb Wegner Award Winner: Teri Robinson. 🌟 Teri’s journey with Ironworkers USA FCU is nothing short of remarkable. From facing a critical financial situation in 2010 to growing the credit union tenfold in less than 15 years, Teri’s leadership has reshaped how credit unions serve blue-collar workers, particularly ironworkers, across the country. Her unique approach? Listening to members, understanding their specific financial challenges, and providing financial education that goes beyond traditional banking. Teri turned her credit union into a lifeline for members—helping them break free from payday lenders and build secure financial futures. 💪📈 In 2018, she expanded Ironworkers USA FCU’s reach to a national level, transforming the credit union into a key player in the financial lives of ironworkers nationwide. Today, the credit union serves thousands, with members across the country who trust Teri and her team to help them through life's financial ups and downs. 🌍💼 Teri’s passion and commitment are what make her such a true leader in the credit union industry. She's a mentor, advocate, and change-maker who continually elevates those around her, ensuring members get the support they need to thrive. 🌟 Please join us in congratulating Teri on this well-deserved recognition and celebrating her incredible impact on the credit union movement! 🎉👏 #CULeaders #HerbWegnerAward #CreditUnionMovement #FinancialWellBeing #TransformationalLeadership #IronworkersUSAFCU #MemberFocused #FinancialEducation #Leadership #Inspiration Read more here: https://bit.ly/3O6zeo5

Woot! Woot! This is the story we need to hear right now. A tiny credit union with a closed field of membership that the NCUA was about to call "time of death" and Teri Robinson, CUDE said not so fast! She expanded that closed field to the USofA, cranked up the brand and has grown this financial cooperative the old fashioned way....ORGANICALLY through member referrals! Not merger. Not buying a bank. Not changing the name (well only slightly, to add USA). Is the credit union over a billion in assets? Nope. Likely never will be. Bigger is not better. #peoplehelpingpeople #creditunion #cooperative

Congratulations Teri! Your story is amazing and inspirational. And proof that focusing on what is needed, and boldly serving/solving those needs, is not only what CUs are all about - but how we grow in the best possible way. It is so humbling to be honored alongside you with this award. I spend my career trying to uplift stories like yours and Mike Valentine’s, in hopes of encouraging people to lean into thier own purpose - like you do daily. Congrats. So deeply deserved!
