𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗱𝗼𝗰 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟮 𝗝𝘂𝗹𝘆 – 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀? 𝗔 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿𝘀 Sholto David, PhD has created a stir by uncovering image manipulations in renowned scientific journals, causing the retraction of several papers. Join us for his Postdoc Talk on 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 (1-2:30 pm, via Zoom), where he will discuss different types of image errors and how to identify them. After a basic introduction to the problem, he will present examples of errors in different journals, subject areas, research groups, and institutions. David will also tell us how he scans the scientific literature for problematic images, identifying over 2600 affected papers, share some data related to journals and publishers and discuss his quixotic efforts to resolve these errors. To conclude, we will dicsuss why image (and other) errors matter. This Postdoc Talk has been organized by HRA Postdoc Network member Dr Rory Hennell James, who is a postdoctoral researcher at UKE Institut für Struktur- und Systembiologie and CSSB Centre for Structural Systems Biology. ➡ Register here: https://lnkd.in/e6ggWMwn 💡 More information about Sholto David’s work and the Dana-Farber retractions: https://lnkd.in/e7YZ7z4J

A way forward to Biomimicry ?
Science is a network, each paper linking those that came before with those that followed. In an exclusive analysis, researchers have delved into Nature's part of that network. We explore their results, taking you on a tour of 150 years of interconnected, interdisciplinary research, as represented by Nature's publication record. Explore the network yourself: https://lnkd.in/dSHeNF6K
