Are you battling Crohn's, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, or any of the other many autoimmune diseases? This short video looks at what actually triggers these diseases. Carlos Jorge, M.D. sheds light on how to actually treat the diseases with a functional medicine approach as opposed to just putting "band-aids" on them. This different way of treating autoimmune diseases vs. the way that they are treated in conventional medicine and has been a game-changer for a number of our clients. #autoimmunedisease #functionalmedicine #charlotte

It is heartwarming to hear the stories of patients but also parents bravely supporting children with rare diseases. These stories motivate us to connect with parents caring for children with mitochondrial diseases, especially those who may not be aware of ongoing research. We would greatly appreciate it if you could help by sharing this information among your contacts and groups. Together, we can make a difference. Did you know? There are more than 100 known autoimmune diseases. Some you've heard of, like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and lupus. Others are extremely rare, affecting only hundreds of people in the world. An autoimmune disease is a condition in which the immune system mistakenly attacks and damages healthy body tissue and cells, rather than protecting the body as it was designed to do. Awareness is critical to advancing research and improving care for people affected by autoimmune disease, so we're helping to spread the word this #AutoimmuneAwarenessMonth.

Today is World Kidney Day and we are spotlighting rare kidney diseases. Rare kidney diseases, such as complement-mediated kidney diseases (CMKDs) are rare, complex diseases that typically strike during youth, and many people with CMKDs will ultimately progress to kidney failure. Complement-mediated kidney diseases include diseases such as C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), IgA nephropathy (IgAN), atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) and membranous nephropathy (MN). Equitable access to care and a timely diagnosis are considered essential in helping to prevent disease progression. Learn more about rare kidney diseases and our ongoing commitment at Novartis to address the unmet needs for people living with CMKDs around the world: https://lnkd.in/e4hVhre4 #WorldKidneyDay #KidneyHealthForAll
