Nia, or Purpose, calls us to build and develop our communities with intention, ensuring that our collective efforts leave a lasting legacy of strength and progress. This principle of Kwanzaa inspires us to pursue work that aligns with our mission and values. At FMS Global Strategies, our purpose is clear: to champion equity, justice, and opportunities for historically marginalized communities. Whether through our legislative wins, community programs, or advocacy efforts, we strive to fulfill Nia by creating systems that empower future generations. Today, let’s reflect on the purpose that drives us forward. #Kwanzaa2024 #Purpose #Nia #FMSGlobalStrategies #EquityAndJustice

The 8 Essential Elements of Beloved Community. 5. Deep Democracy (governing with sacred responsibility): As a governing stance, Beloved Community “trusts people to wield power with instead of power over.” Beloved Community is a solutionary approach to governing and focuses on generating the life-giving power we need to advance and evolve things. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing the 8 Essential Elements of Beloved Community and following up each with related questions for all of us to consider, share, engage, and put into practice in our own lives and communities. #DeepDemocracy #SacredResponsibility #Community #BelovedCommunity #MartinLutherKing #MLK #FreePalestine #FromTheRiverToTheSea #BelovedCommunitiesNetwork @KristenZimmerman

Despite mostly peaceful rallies yesterday, the past week has shown some of the worst of the UK: it is devastating that the murder of three young girls has been used to instigate racist, Islamophobic, xenophobic and male-dominated violence across the country. GlobalGiving UK categorically condemns the nationwide incidents of racist violence that we have witnessed. We stand in unwavering solidarity with those experiencing racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia both online and offline. As an organisation dedicated to promoting and delivering equity and inclusion, we strive to ensure that everyone in our community feels safe, valued, and supported. These acts of hatred and violence are a direct affront to our ethos. We acknowledge that there are many members of our communities who now feel less safe going about their lives. And we also celebrate the amazing organisations and individuals in our GlobalGiving community that carve the path towards doing better: PeaceJam UK supports at-risk, disadvantaged, and migrant youth with leadership training https://lnkd.in/e_ZfKNVd WONDER Foundation supports migrant girls with after school activities https://lnkd.in/dgGHyr2 Young Enterprise UK offers training and support for youth in disadvantaged areas https://lnkd.in/eVrHsWvn The Forgiveness Project promotes peace and healing for both victims and perpetrators in fractured communities https://lnkd.in/eYdCSza5

Water is the most important resource in our world and according to the UN’s 2024 World Water Development Report, over 2 Billion people do not have access to clean water 💧. Women and children are the most adversely affected by this lack of clean water as they are primarily responsible for fetching it from whatever sources they are able to find. They collect it in jerry cans and carry these cans on their heads and backs. On average, they walk 30 minutes to get water carrying these cans weighing ~20kg. When a community like this one in Zambia receives a clean water well, it changes everything. Clean water🚰 empowers: -Health, sanitation and hygiene 🩺🛁 -Education for children who no longer spend their days fetching water 📚 -Economic opportunities for women and their villages as they are able to build businesses and wealth 📊 Next time you wash your hands or have a glass of water, please remember what a blessing it is, and consider giving to NGO’s like World Vision who aim to help end the world’s water crisis in our lifetime. Water is life
This woman in #zambia broke our hearts when we heard her struggles accessing clean water including a child who drown falling into an open well and another who became disabled from the fall. World Vision USA determined to bring her community a new permanent clean water source

As the Hegseth hearing unfolds, and especially for a LinkedIn audience: This non profit management stuff is an important point for any press covering Hegseth this week. So is how it’s categorized and framed. Hegseth ran two advocacy groups that were led by vets—but were also overtly political and highly partisan with a narrow focus. They weren’t focused on housing homeless vets or stopping suicide. They weren’t a veterans service org. Vets for Freedom was primarily focused on promoting the surge in Iraq. Concerned Vets for America was focused on privatizing the VA. If you watch Fox (and Hegseth) you saw this. They were not 501c3s or 501c19s. They were c4s and 527s. Which are infinitely more political and require less restrictions and transparency. These are important distinctions and should be reported that way.

My latest piece delves into the complexities of allyship, offering a nuanced perspective on what it truly means to be an ally in the fight against systemic oppression. True allyship isn't just talk – it's action that risks something real. This eye-opening piece exposes the gap between performative allies and those who genuinely stand in solidarity. 🗣️👥 🚫 Why some "allies" uphold harmful systems 🤯 What happens when we don’t apply trauma-informed approaches on our own selves 😰 How fear of making mistakes holds back progress Learn what it takes to truly work for our collective liberation and work in solidarity to dismantle oppressive systems. Spoiler: It's about care, humanity and action 💪❤️ Ready to level up your allyship? For those of us committed to real change, let’s keep this conversation going. 👀 https://lnkd.in/gSvpAhaW #embodiedleadership #collectiveconsciousness #socialchange #inclusivesystems #globalgoals #soulwork #transformation #servantleadership #traumainformedembodiment #socialimpact #purpose #authenticity #bethechange #innertransformation #externalchange #livingmypurpose #communitysupport #outreach #communityoutreach #communitycare #servingthecommunity #communityservice #helping #helpingothers #mission #communityfirst #awareness #support #TrueAllyship #DecolonizeNow #AntiRacismWork #SocialJustice2024 #IntersectionalActivism #BeTheChange #AllyshipJourney #DisruptTheSystem

Impact 🧡💙 While we feel the impact of our services can’t be quantified and goes beyond numbers, there are some statistics that we are very proud of and we wanted to share one today… During our winter clothing distribution (November 2023 – April 2024) we distributed 42,723 clothing items to 4,853 people.
