National Oceanography Centre’s Post

Thank you to everyone who attended the 'Unfolding Our Shared Future: Ocean health and ocean science - how can effective partnerships support the future of our oceans?', hosted by us last week in collaboration with Political Studies Association (UK): American Politics Group and Embassy of the United States of America, London. 💬 A special thanks goes out to our speakers - NOC's Professor Penny Holliday, Professor Jon Copley from University of Southampton and Dr Steven Thur from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration for their fantastic contributions on the night. 👥 It was also great to welcome guests from Hampshire County Council, Southampton City Council, Portsmouth City Council, University of Southampton, Solent University, Cantell School, and Southampton’s Children’s Mayor, Freya Orendecki. The conversation and the subsequent Q&A highlighted the important role collaboration plays in science and in supporting our oceans. I very much appreciated participating in this event. It was an opportunity to highlight US-UK partnership in ocean science and to discuss the shared challenges both face. Kudos to the organizers for pulling together an engaging evening!
