🚨SOS #Herefordshire businesses!🚨 We have five students with learning/physical disabilities at National Star in #Hereford who are as keen as mustard to showcase their skills at a reverse jobs fair on 28 November between 12 noon – 2pm at the Kindle Centre, Hereford as they prepare for the world of work after college. They have been working on their CVs, practising their elevator pitches and are desperate to use their communication skills to talk to people about the career they’d like to pursue after college. But currently only three businesses/organisations have confirmed that they can come along to meet our students and discover more about their talents. Special thanks to Halo Leisure, National Careers Service, St Michael's Hospice, Hereford. The number of #disabled people in #work since the COVID-19 pandemic has dropped according to the latest Government figures. Only 4.8% of adults with a learning disability are in #employment (NHS Digital, 2022). Even if you don’t think you have a vacancy that may be suitable for them please spare 30 minutes to hear about how they have been preparing for work. We know you’ll be blown away by their determination and enthusiasm to become active citizens in control of their own lives after college. Please contact their Job Coach Cheryl for more information and to let her know you can attend by emailing cwatson-cumbes@nationalstar.org . If you deliver one act of kindness this week, let it be this!

Today, on Labor Day, let's honor all the hardworking individuals who contribute to our society, those who work and those who want to work. Immigrants, as a labor force, have also played a crucial role in building our nation. Their diverse skills, resilience, and cultural contributions have enriched our communities and economies. Here are some facts about Labor Day: 1. It became a US federal holiday in 1894. 2. Oregon was the first state to celebrate it 1882. 3. It is always celebrated on the first Monday of September. 4. It is considered the unofficial end of summer because the first day of school begins for many schools with traditional rather than year-round calendars. 5. Most importantly, Labor Day commemorates the contributions of working people throughout the country and the world. Join our Level-Up Job Fair on Thursday, October 17 and hire qualified candidates. Together, we can build a stronger and more inclusive workforce. hashtag #LaborDay #ImmigrantWorkers #Diversity #Inclusion #ThankYou #JobFair #Hiring #CareerOpportunities #LevelUp

Today is the Chicago Urban League 's Premier Job Fair! Help spread the word about this opportunity to connect with 75+ employers from the Chicagoland area including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. Explore thousands of job openings with great wages and benefits, and get job search tips from the Chicago Urban League, Jobcase, Inc., and more! 🔗 Secure your spot now: bit.ly/culjobfair24 Why? Because employment levels in Chicago and beyond have rebounded since the COVID-19 pandemic, but a new report has found teens and young adults across the city, particularly those of color, are still struggling to find consistent work. Black and Latino youth and young adults in Chicago continue to have higher jobless and out-of-school-and-jobless rates compared to White Chicagoans,” the report states, “highlighting the importance of implementing targeted programs to promote more equitable employment opportunities for youth and young adults.” According to the report, there were tens of thousands of teens and young adults in Chicago between the ages of 16-24 who are both out of school and jobless in 2022 — the year this study examined. Chicago remains worse off than Illinois and the U.S in joblessness for Black and Latino 16- to 19-year-olds and 20-to-24-year-olds, the report found. The highest percentages of joblessness in Chicago, recorded at 92.8%, were found around the South and West side neighborhoods of Pilsen, Bridgeport, McKinley Park, Fuller Park and Back of the Yards. The Far South Side of Chicago in particular had a large cluster of high jobless rates ranging from 86.7% to 92% for 16-to-19-year-olds, the report found. #HCSCcareers #BCBSIL #JobFair #ChicagoJobs #CareerOpportunities #JobSearch #ChicagoUrbanLeague

Ok, so... I’ve always been behind the scenes, but it’s time to start sharing the work that truly inspires me and the things I’m passionate about, with the thought of motivating and inspiring others towards inclusion and sustainability. Plus, a little bit of self-branding doesn't hurt right! 🙃 19th September 2024: I had the privilege of initiating and leading Punjab’s first-ever Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), bringing together over 1,400 PWDs and 20 employers. The energy and commitment to building a more inclusive workforce were truly inspiring! This initiative is part of a larger model I’ve developed to ensure that PWDs not only find jobs but are also integrated into workplaces in a sustainable and impactful way. We’re not stopping here—next up is Karachi, and I’m excited to see this movement grow across Pakistan. I’m posting here because I’ve realized how important it is to showcase the work we do, the goals we strive for, and the change we want to see. Here’s to pushing boundaries, creating opportunities, and making inclusion a reality. P.S. Expect to see a lot more of my work for inclusion and hit me up whenever you feel like I can help you, in any way, with DEI in your industry. #Inclusion #DEI #PWDs #DevelopmentPractice #InclusiveWorkplaces #Textile
✨ Inside Punjab’s First Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities 💼 On behalf of the German development cooperation, we proudly led the first-ever Inclusivity Drive: Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Punjab. Organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Business and Disability Network (PBDN) by Employers' Federation of Pakistan and Hamza Foundation Academy for the Deaf, the event showcased the power of multi-stakeholder collaboration by bringing together the private sector, civil society, and public institutions to promote inclusive employment. ✅ With 1,400 PWDs and 20 employers from leading industries participating, the job fair demonstrated our collective commitment to creating equitable opportunities. The attendance of the Special Education Department Punjab underscored the importance of sustained cross-sector cooperation. 🤝 Together with our partners, we are committed to build on this success by offering post-induction team development workshops and sign language training to the employers of PWDs from this job fair, ensuring long-term inclusion in the workplace. Thanks to our joint efforts, we’ve taken a meaningful step towards a more inclusive society where everyone’s potential is valued. #Inclusion #InclusiveEmployment #EmpoweringPWDs #JobFair #Recruitment #GIZPakistan Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

We've officially kicked off our 2024 Employment Fair programme with a super-successful day in Newbury yesterday. When asked whether we'd met their expectations, Service leavers said: "Exceeded my expectations, great turnout of employers with a wealth of knowledge and information to share." "Cannot suggest any room for further improvement." "It was great because there was such a wide variety of employers and the free drink token was a great added extra." "It was awesome!" And that's just a tiny snippet of the amazing feedback we received. Exhibitors said much the same: "Another great event, CTP - Thank you for having us!" "Another great Career Transition Partnership event supporting Service leavers into their second careers." "Brilliant to be attending the Career Transition Partnership Newbury Employment Fair!" "What an incredible day we had at our first Career Transition Partnership event! It was so wonderful to chat with everyone and build new relationships. We're already looking forward to the next one!" Check out the video below to get a feel for how the day went, along with some cracking advice from Service leaver, Stuart. To get yourself booked onto the next event, head over to ctp.org.uk/events, or give us a call on 0203 162 4410 to book your place. #CTP #CTPEF #EmploymentFair #Serviceleaver #networking #careers #vacancies #jobs #opportunities

Due to the very small uptake for our event, we have decided to postpone until the new year. This decision was not taken lightly - if you know of any businesses that would be interested in supporting this event next year, please email Cheryl by emailing cwatson-cumbes@nationalstar.org
