The ARHE Standardized Review for Collegiate Recovery Advancement (SRCRA): An Accreditation Process for Collegiate Recovery. SRCRA is a process that will assist CRPs in defining their current programs and outlining plans for moving forward. It acts as a tool to help navigate the often-challenging advocacy paths within institutions of higher education. SRCRA is a voluntary, evaluative process that includes both an internal and external review to highlight program strengths and attributes, identify areas of growth and improvement, and serve as quality assurance in order to assist programs and stakeholders in identifying and advocating for areas of continued growth and development. https://lnkd.in/esEaSmv9 #scholasticrecovery #collegiaterecoverycommunity #collegiaterecovery #ARHE

These numbers are alarming, and they are not new. (These figures represent Lucas County, not just Toledo.) While not the worst in Ohio, they are well into the lower half – and Ohio's overall numbers aren't good. To tackle this issue effectively, it will require a unified effort from our entire community – a cross-sector approach. This is gaining attention, but we need to elevate our efforts. Our children deserve better, and a stronger community benefits everyone. #groundworkohio #toledotomorrow #lucascounty #cityoftoledo #ymca #arttatumzone #toledocommunityfoundation #eldredfoundation #andersonfoundation #unitedway #ohiodepartmentofeducation #utoledo #ohioeducation #gtoledocf #toledopublicschools #BGSU #owenscommunitycollege #lourdesuniversity

But many people in Texas haven’t yet reached the level of literacy they need to fulfill their potential and achieve their goals. Literacy Texas is an organization that believes every person has a right to literacy. Their mission is to connect and equip literacy programs through resources, training, networking, and advocacy. https://lnkd.in/g4C_-JT9 #Literacy #LiteracyMatters #AdultLiteracy

SHiFT is alongside Mission 44's #NothingHappensinIsolation campaign to address the deep-rooted challenges of school exclusions and their impact on young people's lives. At SHiFT, we emphasise the importance of multi-agency, child and family-centred approaches to dismantle the 'School-to-Prison Pipeline' as focused on at this week's Children's Rights Conference: Ending the School-to-Prison Pipeline , hosted by Garden Court Chambers and UCL. → 72% of children who receive custodial sentences have experienced fixed-term suspensions. → 13% have been permanently excluded from school. → Vulnerable children—those with special educational needs, in care, or facing economic hardship—bear the brunt of these system failures. Speakers such as Charlie Taylor, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, and Dr. Matthew Jay from UCL exposed the fragmented nature of youth custody and the alarming correlation between exclusion and systemic inequality. Key discussions also pointed to over-criminalisation in schools, with Dr Shabnam Begum (Runnymede Trust) drawing attention to the rise in police presence in schools as pastoral support is defunded. This disproportionately affects Black and Brown students and those on free school meals, further entrenching inequalities. From exclusion policies to off-rolling practices, the consensus was clear: the current system undermines vulnerable children's educational rights and future opportunities. The event ended with a call to action: "The mindset must shift to really believing that when a child fails, we all fail." SHiFT is working nationally to do whatever it takes to break the cycles of crime and harm which children and young people are caught up in, or at risk of, and we stand with education and justice professionals in supporting collaboration to safeguard children’s rights.

Best practices for safer school design have evolved and will continue to evolve. This can make it difficult for school administrators to know they are making the most effective decisions for enhancing school security today and in the future. To help, Ken Cook, Director of National School Safety and Advocacy at Allegion, spoke to Campus Security Today to provide key insights. For too many children, school is too rigid and when things (life!) happens, children need support and a way forward. Education is a team effort. Trauma requires compassion and commitment - children don’t just wake up and decide to be “naughty”. There is always a need behind negative actions. Complex needs require professional support from social workers, counsellors, police, justice, health - a multifaceted approach to education. Teachers and schools can only do so much and they already do a lot! Inclusion isn’t just a differentiated class or an IEP- it’s a whole school approach to making sure every child is able to flourish and thrive. Exclusion - means just that, we have turned our backs to that child’s needs. Bravo Mission 44!
