When it comes to accessibility, our network of National Trails are a cut above the rest. Putting Down Routes is a fantastic example of the efforts being made to welcome more people of different abilities and backgrounds into the outdoors. In partnership with Wild with Wheels CIC and Black Girls Hike UK C.I.C, the Kent Downs National Landscape is transforming the North Downs Way National Trail into a more accessible, safe, and inclusive space—helping diverse users connect with this inspiring landscape. 💜Today is Purple Tuesday, a global social movement for improving the experience for disabled people and their families 365 days a year. 💜 We’re always striving to make the Kent Downs National Landscape a more physically accessible, safe and welcoming place so that everyone can experience and enjoy our landscape. As part of our Putting Down Routes project, we’ve been hosting a number of wheelchair-friendly, accessible nature walks along the North Downs Way National Trail. ♿ Thanks to our project partners Wild with Wheels CIC and Black Girls Hike UK C.I.C we’ve hosted 14 walks along the trail, welcoming more than 200 attendees, with a range of physical access and sensory needs. Don’t miss out on a place on our next walk - Dover Town, River Dour and Seafront Stroll with Wild With Wheels. 📅 27th November 2024 📍 Dover, Kent 🔗 Tickets for this event can be found here https://lnkd.in/eVhNS83r Did you know that we also have Changing Places toilets at Kent Country Parks Shorne Woods, Brockhill and Lullingstone. As well as a number of easy access routes across the Downs - ideal for people who are wheelchair users, those with pushchairs or just those who like flat surfaced routes with no gates or stiles. From 2025 there will be some exciting improvements along parts of the North Downs Way, with the aim to making the trail more physically accessible. 🎉 Keep up to date with the latest news across our socials, or by signing up to our newsletter. 💌 #PurpleTuesday #PurpleTuesday2024 #AccessibilityMatters #ChangingPlaces #AccessibleNature #InclusionMatters #Accessibility #DisabilityAwareness #AONB #KentDowns #NorthDownsWay #PuttingDownRoutes #Kent #KentCountryside #CountryPark #Inclusion #AccessibilityForAll #InclusionMatters Purple Tuesday
