We’re thrilled to announce #WhenWeThinkofHome, our 2025 mission to secure a place to call home and centralize our outreach efforts. We envision a healthy, accessible space equipped with the features essential to us executing our work—fostering space for community cultivation, resource redistribution and joy. Some of these features include: regular extermination service as needed, self-controlled heating and cooling (vital for fierce New England winters), accessible entrances and exits for differently-abled people and adequate seating/resting places for *all* body types. We have these main goals: ⭐ ️ Immediate wellbeing - We plan to continue our microgrants program to sustain our support of individuals with urgent transportation, nutrition and medical needs. ⭐️ More than survival: Time to thrive! - We believe that individuals can thrive beyond survival when they’re provided the space and opportunity to do so. Thus, we plan to facilitate workshops, resume + cover letter sessions and hybrid opportunities for job interview prep. Group and 1-on-1 opportunities for FREE coaching so that individuals can have the tools needed to lead successful lives in their own right. ⭐️ Community engagement - Through hybrid (in-person and virtual) events and programming, we plan to sustain joy and resilience in Massachusetts LGBTQ+ and Black communities. It is imperative to foster space for joy as individuals we serve experience heightened risks of violence due to anti-queer, anti-trans and anti-black discrimination. ⭐️ Centralized Outreach - We plan to maximize our reach through partnerships and collaborations with other organizations, collectives, artists and organizers who share the same/similar values as us. This will strengthen the network(s) which serve LGBTQ+ individuals and Black individuals across the state. With much of our work being intersectional, it is vital to seize points of overlap in our work to serve as many folks as possible. We can’t do this without YOU. How can green spaces bring people together? Having access to green spaces can offer many opportunities for connection and socialisation. This can be through spending time with friends and families 👨👩👦 at a summer picnic; helping children 🧒 learn how to make new friends and play; or meeting new people 👋 at outdoor park events. Green spaces can improve community cohesion by allowing different social groups to interact, bond and grow attached to their local parks 🍃 These spaces are free and welcome to all, making them inclusive and accessible which reduces obstacles to socialising for vulnerable groups of people (e.g. disabled people, ethnic minorities, the youth and elderly, and those with financial difficulties). We must value our green spaces and parks to encourage community engagement and ensure that there are available and welcoming spaces for everyone 💚 (Design created by Sara Lopez)

We believe in the power of community and the importance of giving back, which is why we were thrilled to assist the 13th Northampton Scouts with revitalising their outdoor space. My recent experience with AFCA is that there has been inordinate delay in progressing matters - plus fundamental issues concerning procedural fairness have also arisen. This post is interesting in that that it shows how AFCA wishes to position itself - sorting out disagreements with a financial firm. In fact, AFCA has a very substantive jurisdiction which in WA would cover disputes that otherwise would be resolved by the Supreme Court - AFCA can now consider disputes where the amount claimed is $1,263,000 and it can award up to $631,500. With respect to some disputes, its jurisdiction is unlimited. My concern being that there appears to be a mismatch between how AFCA positions itself and how it applies its Rules - versus the very substantive jurisdiction that it actually has (which would ordinarily be exercised by a Court).
