Join David Vellante in the latest episode! “In a private meeting with [Nvidia president] Jensen Huang, he told us that within 8 to 10 years, robots will be generally fully functioning. He said this will be done with, "Just a bunch of tokens." He said, ‘We have lots of data and there's a finite vocabulary around things that humans do, like walking, sprinting, skipping, throwing, and hugging. We know what that looks like, and that can be simulated with AI very accurately by being tokenized and made generative,’” shares Vellante. “It's a different vision than you hear from most AI leaders. He said that he was to be able to ground the Omniverse in the laws of physics. The laws of AI don't understand the laws of physics. He described a cycle of "starting by imitating." NVIDIA are changing the game. There is a ton of power coming to robotics - and surgical robotics. AND HERE IS THE PROBLEM 🚨 The rate at which companies like NVIDIA are moving, the speed at which we are getting motor and battery development, sensors, systems, vision intelligence - software - will simply leave most medical device companies behind. We are currently on a 10 year life cycle of robotic architecture - from concept to POC to MPV to regulatory (limited) - to launch - to recoup the cash - to rinse and repeat. The industry needs to get to an almost "rack like" architecture that will be upgrade proof in short sprints. You need to be able to upgrade your vision processing hardware and software every 6 to 12 months !!!! If you don't want to be a decade out of touch. The rules have changed - the speed of change rules ! We need different strategies when we design architectures for surgical robots. #surgicalrobotics #AI #roboticsurgery #nvidia #robotics
