The United Nations Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace reminds us that peace is more than just the absence of conflict. It is "a positive, dynamic participatory process where dialogue is encouraged and conflicts are solved in a spirit of mutual understanding and cooperation.” A key value in fostering a culture of peace is promoting non-violence through education, dialogue, and collaboration. Peace must be built where wars begin—within our minds. We must work together and choose dialogue over confrontation. Our world is ours to shape. Why not choose to make it better? #CultureOfPeace #PeaceBuilding #NonViolence #DialogueForPeace #SustainablePeace #UNPeaceInitiatives #GlobalCooperation

Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Today, we pause to remember and reflect on the painful history endured by Indigenous peoples in Ontario and across Canada. This day is a crucial reminder of the importance of truth, awareness, and the collective journey towards healing. Let’s stand together in solidarity, not only to acknowledge these truths but also to actively support the path towards reconciliation. By educating ourselves and others, we can contribute to a future where every child matters and where the voices of Indigenous communities are heard and respected. http://ow.ly/QUbP30sFFx6 #EveryChildMatters #TruthAndReconciliation #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation #MarshallConnects #OrangeShirtDay

Peacebuilding is often associated with formal negotiations and high-level peace conferences. However, on the ground, especially in diverse and conflict-prone communities, informal dialogues have proven to be powerful tools for fostering understanding, preventing conflict, and promoting sustainable peace. The International Day of Peace, celebrated on September 21, was established by the United Nations in 1981. Its purpose is to promote peace and non-violence worldwide. Initially, it was a day to commemorate and strengthen the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples. In 2001, the UN General Assembly designated it as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. The day aims to encourage dialogue, conflict resolution, and peace education, emphasizing that peace is not just the absence of conflict but a positive, dynamic process involving mutual understanding and cooperation. This year’s theme, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace,” highlights the importance of nurturing peace through education and community efforts. #InternationalDayofPeace #MakeLOVEnotWar #LetThereBePeace #4ABetterWorld
