This year was the third time I was at the GREEN AWARDS and the GREENTECH FESTIVAL – by now its feels like an integral part of my year. I am always enjoying this platform bringing together pioneers and innovative thinkers to celebrate sustainable technologies and green solutions. Particularly their international view leads to a selection of companies and start-ups, where even sustainability professionals can discover new solutions and get inspired. Highlights: 💬 Most valuable: Meeting old a new acquaintances and to catch-up. It was great seeing you again Steffen, Markus Richthammer, Christian Boog, Anja, Emil, Anna-Christina, Lary, Tobias, Nils…And to all new connections: I hope to see you again next year. 🚀 Most entertaining: The exchange between Hajo Schumacher and Ricarda Lang, where he confronted her with criticisms the Greens get (“politics for the elite”, „they ban everything“, environmental policy vs social policy“) They were a great duo. 💡 Most inspiring: All the people and solutions I learned about at the AWARDS and the CONFERENCE as well as all the trailblazers at the “START-UP LAND” 🔍 Most informative: The exhibition with all the amazing ideas out there. Really enjoyed the consumer engaging approach by Hansgrohe, showing products that are not yet on the market. Very impressed with the engaging booth of Stadler and all the information they put out there. The most in-depth conversation I shared was at Max Bögl, where we talked about sustainable concrete solutions. Room for improvement: I had high expectations for the panel on „How do we fight Greenwashing?“, which were not entirely met. The study results that were shown, weren’t contextualized (I was waiting to hear about methodology, participation, occupation etc. to understand whether the numbers are representative). Later (after I downloaded the study) I discovered that 172 people participated in the study. I wish this had been disclaimed on the panel, especially when talking about fact-based communication to avoid greenwashing. Also, there was no mention of the Green Claims regulation and its implications. As a game changer in sustainability communication I would have expected at least a brief mention of this. I wish I had had more time, because there was so much more to discover. ➡️ Let's keep the conversations going and shape the future together. Thanks Claudia, Phillip, Verena for joining me this year 💚 #GreenTech #Sustainability #Innovation Photo Credits: GREENTECH FESTIVAL

🌱 Reflecting on a Transformative Session: Bridging Digital Innovation with Sustainability 🌐 I had the privilege of leading an important discussion on sustainable IT strategies at this years #xchange with my colleagues Vanessa Kantner and Rainer Karcher. Our session explored the overlap between digital innovation and sustainability, emphasizing the critical impact of IT on global CO2 emissions, which account for up to 3.9%. We explored the concept of the Twin Transformation and highlighted how technological progress and sustainability goals can synergistically lead to significant change. This was illustrated, among other examples, by Reply´s Green IT Bootcamp, where we highlighted the inspiring role of community in promoting sustainable practices in the IT sector. The discussion was not only about spreading knowledge, but also about fostering action and promoting an engaged community. We inspired each other to develop visions for a sustainable future and take actionable steps, asserting our commitment to deeply integrating sustainability into technological progress. We will continue to push the boundaries of what's possible, striving for a future where technology and sustainability go hand in hand. Join us in building strong communities! 🌿 🤝

Thank you to EcoTeens for hosting our colleagues at The Purpose Business (TPB), Kennisha Amon and Andrea Uy at their recent Greenpreneurs Summit. Kudos to Kennisha and Andie for their insightful presentation on the intersection of purpose and sustainability. At TPB, we believe that the role of purpose in driving business transformation is paramount. During their presentation, Kennisha and Andie highlighted how businesses, especially those in Asia, can embed purpose and sustainability into their operations. Key takeaways from their talk include: Empowering Youth: Engaging the next generation in driving sustainable business practices is crucial. Recent surveys show nearly 90% of Gen Z and millennials believe a clear sense of purpose is integral to their well-being and job satisfaction. These young professionals are increasingly willing to turn down opportunities that don't align with their values, making it essential for businesses to define and live by their purpose to attract and retain top talent. Driving Systemic Change: Businesses have a unique role in driving innovation and systemic change, especially as trust in government to enact meaningful change wanes. Real-life examples like MTR Corporation Limited 香港鐵路有限公司 in Hong Kong, whose purpose statement "Keep Cities Moving" guides its decision-making process, from ensuring accessibility to prioritising energy efficiency, were highlighted. Purpose Beyond Profit: A purpose-driven business goes beyond charitable donations and CSR activities. It integrates purpose into the core business strategy, influencing everything from hiring practices to product development and ethical sales processes. Purpose-driven businesses make strategic contributions to global well-being, aligning profitability with the needs of people and the planet. Are you ready to transform your organisation and step into a purpose-driven future? Join TPB's Upcoming Masterclass! In September, TPB is bringing a first-ever Purpose + Sustainability masterclass to Asia. Led by prominent global purpose and sustainability thought leaders, Patricia Dwyer and Dr Victoria Hurth, this course will empower your business with practical tools and frameworks to strengthen resilience and seize opportunities amidst a changing world. Baltic Sustainability Awards: More Categories, More Challenges, and a Few Tech Meltdowns… Here’s the Real Story Behind the Judging As someone who’s equally at home in design and environmental engineering—let me give you a peek behind the scenes. This year, we didn’t just raise the bar; we took it from six categories to 11, with four special prizes on top. Of course, this expansion came with its adventure. Between the bold new categories, the unexpected tech hiccups on our brand-new platform (which, yes, we’re still “learning to love”), and an 80+ member jury diving into applications, there’s no shortage of passion, debate, and some fascinating ethical dilemmas that keep surfacing. We knew this wasn’t going to be straightforward, but the level of commitment each juror brings to this shared mission is truly something else. #Data Speaks Louder Than Words: We’re here for the numbers. Show us the real impact—emissions cut, waste reduced, lives improved. Without the proof, it’s just another claim. #Integrity Over Optics: It’s easy to slap a green label on an innovation. But what about the full environmental cost? The jury’s looking at the ethics beneath the claims because “sustainable” has to mean something real. #Big Dreams, Real Steps: Bold ideas are great, but only if they come with a clear path to make them work. Show us how your solution goes beyond the slide deck and scales. #Built to Last: We’re looking for projects that go the distance. Quick wins are nice, but they’re not enough. Sustainability is a long game, and this jury wants to see solutions that can make a lasting difference. And here’s where it all comes together: November 26 for the Awards Ceremony and November 27 for the Forum. This is the one place to connect with the people shaping what sustainability looks like. Think of it as your chance to get a firsthand look at the projects and minds setting the agenda for real, lasting change. If you’re serious about making an impact—or just want to see who’s doing it—this is the room you want to be in.

Last week, I was happy to attend the latest seminar hosted by Sant Cugat Empresarial on how B Corp certified companies are weaving sustainability into their corporate strategies to make a positive impact on society and gain a competitive edge 🌱♻️ In Foxway Group we're excited to be a part of the next seminar as speakers, sharing our knowledge on sustainable technology and inspiring our local community - so stay tuned! 🦊💜 Here are my key takeaways from this session: 💡 Sustainable practices aim to meet the needs of the world’s population while staying within planetary boundaries. 💡 Many companies are not yet ready to comply with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and require guidance to adapt. 💡 The goal of a sustainability strategy is to maximize positive social impacts while minimizing or eliminating negative ones – and it must also be economically viable. 💡 The B Corp Movement is growing rapidly, with over 8,000 companies certified globally! To get certified, a company must score at least 80 out of 200 points, evaluated across five areas: Governance, Workers, Community, Environment, and Customers. 💡 Companies with a high impact score attract and retain talent (especially younger generations motivated by purpose), gain a competitive edge, and become more attractive to investors. 💡 Two-thirds of carbon footprints come from suppliers, so choosing your collaborators carefully is crucial for reducing environmental impact. #SantCugatEmpresarial #FoxwayGroup #Sustainability
