Especially walnuts are high in a type of omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). That is good for both - the heart and brain. ✔ Dark chocolate Look for at least 70% cocoa with low added sugar, preferably organic and fair trade too. Consuming dark chocolate can help enhance memory function. ✔ Green tea Helps to improve brain health in multiple ways as improving memory, focus, anxiety, task performance, and staving off cognitive decline. ✔ Fatty fish About 1/4th of our brain is made up of omega-3 fatty acids which help support brain and nerve cell growth, so fish consumption encourages brain health. When trigonelline was found in high levels in the blood, it was positively correlated with muscle strength and function whereas low levels were correlated with sarcopenia, an age-related loss of muscle volume and strength. Trigonelline is not only found in high concentrations in coffee, it is also in other plants such as fenugreek, barley, corn, soybeans, onions and tomatoes and has also been associated with improvements in memory, learning and with anti-inflammatory effects in experiments in mice.
